Unfortunately, any attempted goodness is drained by the wrong location sourcing of most produce & products. Chicken from Hawkes Bay (waste of energy & distance), same with most if not ALL products, seem deliberately sourced from the furthest locations around New Zealand, rather than true 'local' products/produce, suggest you refocus to use 'local'!! Communication with staff regarding questions and any service on site, are problematic, more training needed. Please get someone to proofread your website too, so the English actually makes sense. Some items on menu apparently are not available, no reasons given. Our table was dirty and sticky, empty cutlery and napkin box, we needed to get things from other tables and ALL tables were visibly messy and unclean!. More attention to details and much more training needed. Bathrooms need serious attention, to be safe & clean!! Asked for 2 Coffees (as on menu) some very luke-warm wet brown solution arrived in 2 mugs, with a cream jug filled with white sugar & 2 teaspoons... had to ask for milk (look of astonishment of waiters face, said it all!), that arrived 2 drinking glasses, and when put together in mug, was a barely warm tasteless brown liquid, no coffee taste at all. We were also charged $3 ea for 2 drops of sauce & aioli, which should be complimentary. The 'hot spicy burger' was not so much hot/spicy but chemically hot/burning, to the point of being quite dangerous, made that burger inedible. Apart from this, the ONLY thing they did manage, was the chips (shame they do not use local Southland potatoes, but import them from Timaru - NOT local). Try better, try more, learn more... NO excuse!!...

One of the best crispy chicken sandwiches we've ever had! We ate here 3 times on our trip 😅 it was the first place we found while driving around frankton looking for a beef burger place but we didn't have data on our phones yet so we got a little lost and ran into this place instead, and we're so glad that we did. The burgers packed some heat from the slightly spicy, smoky flavor of the mayo and ranch sauces. The melty swiss cheese was perfect with the other flavors. The crunch of the slaw added freshness. The crispy cheesy mac and fried chicken was comfort food all in one. Our fries arrived late so the sweet staff gave us a couple of complimentary sauces which was nice since they were $3 each. The place is pricey at $22 for the mac n cheesy crispy chicken burger (fries are an extra $5), but the flavor and quality of the food made up for it. My husband had the spicy dragon burger which he absolutely loved (he loves his buffalo wings afterall). We brought my parents take out as they were resting after our early flight, they had the original burger and Korean BBQ burger which they gobbled up and really enjoyed. 2nd visit we had the same burgers as the first time, 3rd visit we had the original burgers and parents had mac n cheesy. The eatery offers complimentary wifi for diners which is a bonus since we were international visitors (2 Americans, 1 Indonesian Aussie & 1 Aussie) who didn't have any data. I only got pics of 1 burger cos we were too busy eating...

What a debacle! Just a couple of snacky ski bums craving a tasty gluten free tender meal after a cracking on the maunga. We love chicken, so this seemed like the perfect choice. It was not. When you think of a chicken tender you think of golden, juicy, tasty, crispy... But how wrong we were to rely on the website photos. What we received was an unseasoned, insipid, whiter than the snow tender with really no redeeming features. For an outfit that specialises in chicken, this was exceptionally bad. Only plus side to this whole shamozzle was the chips. Thank goodness Briscoes and Woolworths are close by to grab the other couple of necessities on this trip. We're not angry, we're just disappointed.

Protip: Woolworths is just down the road. Grab yourself a packet of Waitoa gluten free burger fillets and some Makakihi Fries and you'll be waaaaay happier than us.

Edit: old mate Owner is (again) saying it was a kids meal... Absolutely wasn't! ...not sure how long they can keep hiding behind that. Poor form to be honest. Get down to countdown - 3x the food, 10x the taste...

$74 bux for well below average food. Chicken 'tenders' were halved chicken breast, clearly not tenders. The onion rings had far too much batter and we're virtually inedible. Not too mention the $3 portions of sauce. At least the staff were lovely but this place used to be awesome. What happened? In response to the owners comment below, these were not 'kids tenders' this was a full priced adult meal. It was gluten free, perhaps that's where you're confused by the colour and clear lack of spice or flavour. The dispute was not the seasoning or batter. It was the fact that your 'tenders' were not tenders, they were very obviously chicken breast and that the onion rings were battered far too heavily, to the point that they were almost impossible to eat. And I have no problem paying for extra sauce, but it would be nice to have at least something on the plate initially before having to buy more, but $3 for a tiny portion is absurd by anyone's standard.
