Don't miss Athol Parks of Dunedin City Walks! Suggest you do these early in your stay to maximise your visit. These exceptional walks (we did the Vogel Street walk and the Old Town Walk) are an unforgettable introduction to this historically intact beautiful small city. Athol's insights covered some expected buildings / history however most of what he revealed were inside intriguing alley ways and buildings definately undiscoverable by visitors. He effortlessly wove in stories and facts across a range of interesting topics and in response to our questions and interests. If you love architecture you will experience the wealth of this city from the 1850's to mid century modern which was such a treat for us! We had the most marvelous walk around Dunedin with Athol - it was fascinating and we really enjoyed it. He is a delightful person with a great delivery. He is both knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. The tour actually provided an excellent grounding for our visit to the Settler's Museum. An absolute Must, when you are in Dunedin. I did the Vogel street walk with Athol - and would have done every single other walk on his menu if I had stayed long enough. His deep knowledge, spreading such a vast array of topics (history, economy, arts, architecture, culture and subculture), as well as his heartfelt connection with the people who shape this town are a pure joy and treasure.
