26th January 2018 - This is a Japanese and Vietnamese restaurant that is located in Rangiora township. We went there to celebrate one of my daughtersā birthday. It is approximately 30 minutesā drive from Christchurch CBD. The restaurant is inside āLam Houseā, which retains the old heritage faƧade but with modern construction throughout. Both restaurant and building are situated on a āTā junction of High Street and Victoria Street (diagonally across Harringtonās Jewellers). If you are driving along Victoria Street, you will definitely see this restaurant. There are car parks behind the building but you will need to drive down Good Street and turn into a private/ service lane. There is a sushi takeaway area, a bar with lots of alcoholic drinks to choose from, a teppanyaki cooking] area, a sushi train area and a dessert station. There are plenty of tables and seats in the dining area, but I do recommend to book/ to reserve a table. The internal decoration is clean and modern look; 4 seating booths (each booth can seat 4 people comfortably) and the table bench right along the sushi train area. You can also sit around the teppanyaki area, but the seats are limited and therefore, booking is highly recommended. Apart from helping ourselves with the steady stream of fresh sushi moving along the conveyor belt, we also ordered a set menu and a few side dishes; new style sashimi (different but nice due to seasoning!), vegetarian and prawn fresh spring rolls (delicious!), spicy chicken [nibbles, fried rice (ok only), grilled mussels seasoned with delicious toppings, and squid sprinklered with sesame seeds (to die for). We wanted to order Chicken Pho but the not available as the chef was not there. We ended up with Soba Noodles and it was a good choice. The soup was thick and full of flavour, and quite different from ramen noodles.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwesome experience. Definitely recommend. We came as a party of 6 ( 4 adults, 2 kids) and they couldn't be anymore accommodating. The chef and manager were brilliant, hugely entertaining and we were treated to a sumptuous meal, cooked right in front of us. Courses were dished up at fabulous intervals so we didn't feel we were rushing between courses. The chef kept us entertained, and had us all interacting with him, he's fab with kids too and kept the little ones entertained with juggling, jokes, tricks etc. We all were encouraged to try the eating basketball game, hugely entertaining and we successfully achieved our goals including the manager who also joined in. Basically the chef flicks cooked egg up in the air and you have to catch it in your mouth šš The desserts were divine, but definitely my eyes were bigger than my belly. Definitely worth a visit, highly recommend and will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food (sushi) in here is excellent. The place is a restaurant as well as a takeaway. There is ample car parking out the back. Or if you are lucky you may get a park on High Street. Sit down for a nice meal in a nice environment and enjoy the variety of eats that are available as well as drinks. The gentleman behind the counter in the photo is wearing a bandana. It says so I am told, 'Always be lucky'. I am sure you would enjoy a relaxing cold drink and some nice sushi so take some time and...
