Mussel Rock Cafe Bar — Restaurant in Te Hiku Community

I liked this place... but had some concerns about the food. We ordered the platter for 2 and we didn't get any pickles or wings. Instead of the wings we were given some microwaved shredded chicken that was quite gross... the rest of the platter tasted go and steak was good!

Unfortunately we could see our chef preparing the food... I wish we didn't... the chef handled the raw meat with her bare hands, then handled a bunch of cash, paying out someone who won in the pokies. Then without washing her hands, she continued plating up our platter, touching the food with her raw meat/dirty...

Looks quite nice from outside, my wife order fish n chips and I order pizza, fish n chips were good but pizza was different story, when l saw the pizza, straight away , asked person behind bar" is this frozen Pizza" answer was only the base was frozen ,well looks frozen, never seen pizza like this anywhere in NZ, even pizza hut, l have eaten one or two piece but l could not eat it anymore, they were very polite and asked why we couldn't eat it but l have allready left, my wife told them that it was our fault ordering the pizza, just being polite and we didn't...

This was once one of the go to places however my recent experience has put me off. I felt that that whoever was in charge that day had just got tired so turned of the vats which meant that we were forced to leave as no food could be served. We were told they closed at 8pm but by 6pm they were telling us to leave. As a local who has been there a few times i was shocked. I have to say though that they were new to this place and sure put my crowd of from ever going there again. We had spent a very good amount...
