My partner and I went to Euro Deli for brunch this morning. We were greeted with smiles and great customer service. I ordered the vegetarian toasted bagel platter - served with "homemade guacamole", cream cheese, fresh tomato and basil. My partner order the "smashed avocado" on dark rye toast, served with one poached egg, halloumi, granola crumbles and beetroot puree. We both ordered a flat white each. All of which came to just over $40. The service was great, the coffees came out fast and were very good! The food came out soon after but it was a very, very disappointing sight.
Instead of getting "homemade guacamole" and "smashed avocado" as advertised, we both received the guacamole puree that you can buy at your generic supermarket. It looked like it had been left in the fridge too long as there was a slight brown tint to it. There was one sliced tomato on each bagel half. I got a massive serving of cream cheese which tasted more like butter and the pesto was bland and lacked any flavour. It was truly a sad sight to see. Unfortunately, my partner's plate was even more disatisfying. For close to $18, he got one slice or rye bread, with store bought guacamole puree and one small poached egg. There was a smudge of beetroot puree that circulated the dish, with a scattering of granola crumbles. The highlight was the four pieces of halloumi which made up about 40% of the dish.
In all, I will not be going back to Euro Deli for food anytime soon. I will happily go back for coffee or the cabinet food, but I wouldn't bother dining in for a meal. Sad start...
Read moreIt's a small cafe at a convenient location but note you can only stay max 2 hours at the carpark so not convenient for if you want to do work. I ordered a small flat white and one of the sausage rolls on the shelf (kitchen closes at 2.30pm). There was no price tag so I expected it to be around $6. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be $9.50! It also came with a small salad and two sauces on the plate as in the photo which I also didn't expect. The coffee was fine but the sausage roll was not really worth it. The kitchen food might be better I imagine, but until I try it I'll leave the rating as is. Lastly, they started closing quite early at before 3.15pm when they are meant to close at 4. Points for the good atmosphere, friendly staff, and...
Read moreWhat happened to this place? Was my favorite on the shore, even when the original owners sold the quality of produce, service and cooking stayed right up there.....but now the two girls that made fantastic coffee seem to be there less and less and the guy behind the machine serves watery burnt coffee (with a smile)..seems to be changing hands again as new people are being trained and the quality of produce has definitely dropped(seems to now come from the Chinese market next door) and they won't hesitate to sell you yesterday's cabinet food for top dollar (again with a smile)......disappointing and no longer on my list, are there any good café left on the shore that haven't been let down by a drop in quality...
