Piccolo Cafe & restaurant — Restaurant in Waikato

This post is on behalf of a friend. I met a friend for breakfast here last Friday. everything is okay until one of their employees accidentally spilled a few cups of coffee. Unfortunately, my hair and the entire back of my coat were splashed with coffee，They gave me a towel and that was it, No apology, no comfort，The coat was so bad that I had to have it dry-cleaned, and I told the coffee shop manager before I left that I would show them the dry cleaning receipt later ，It’s okay for now until The third day when I brought in the receipt to the shop and I also bought two cups of coffee, they took the receipt but didn't say anything it wasn't until I was back home then I realized they didn’t pay me back .I called them twice and the manager said they only can offer me the same amount of coffee card 😱😱➕🤣🤣🤣🤣, what a joke!!! Also he said this kind of situation it’s very common in coffee shop! Okay, good Luck everyone who Will have breakfast and lunch here! Keep an eye out! Eventually (yesterday) he paid me $36 in cash because I wouldn't take their coffee card, the worst service ever i had！

The whole thing isn't about the money, it's about their attitude and I hope they didn't treat me...

The food was good, but the service really let this cafe down. Disinterested staff on their phones, we sat for and talked for an hour after we had eaten our lunch and nobody came to clear our table, we asked to order 2 coffees and were told there would be a 15 minute wait because the person who made the coffees was on a break…..this was Sunday lunchtime for heavens sake. Hard to tell who was in charge but nobody spoke to us once our orders were taken, the girl who finally made the coffees delivered them to our table and completely ignored the empty plates and cutlery, she never spoke a word. All in all, we couldn’t complain about the food but whoever owns this cafe needs to have a pretty hard conversation with the staff because they were unbelievably disinterested in the customers. One male staff member walked past our table of dirty plates and went and sat in the window and played on his mobile phone for about 15 minutes - pretty...

This place is a 3 or a 4 star, depending....it's well situated in Taupo and we'd never tried it before so we did just after New Year. Unsurprisingly it was very busy and staff were a bit frantic. After being seated there was a bit of confusion over table service. Ie the first 4 people got table service the last four didn't. The coffees were not great but we're passable. The food was good but expensive which is why I've marked it down.but like the service that was a mixed bag too. We thought $30 for a steak sandwich expensive,some of the kids meals were in the $12 range which was more acceptable. The food was very good. Our issues were with the patchy service - bit it was busy - and whether the adult meals really were worth $22 upwards. This isn't a restaurant! Again the cafe is well placed, just go when it is less busy and do not pay up for the expensive meals if you can help it as they aren't...
