The Tandoor Tavern — Restaurant in Waikato

We live about 10minutes drive out of Otorohanga. At 6.40pm we ordered takeout online this evening, Wednesday 5th January 2022 from the Tandoori Tavern. We were in town 20minutes later waiting for our order which promptly arrived. Immediately returned home to eat. Each naan bread was floury and char scorching was overdone. The roti was thick and in parts crusty. The chicken korma was delicious. However, the butter beef and goat curry were each inundated with a dark red sauce. The tomato flavouring was over the top. Is that normal colouring for a goat 'curry' too? or did the cook stretch that tomato paste? Our food bill was over $70NZ. If I was in town I would have returned most of our order with a few choice words to say to Tandoori Tavern's management. Disappointed and unimpressed. You're new in town aye. We stopped by for dinner on the way back to Auckland from Ruapehu, The menu is decently sized and does have some interesting items on it that I haven't seen in other places like an eggplant masala. For many of the dishes, you can also choose the protein you wanted. I went with the lamb Madras as well as a mango lassi. The lassi was interesting since it didn't have a mango flavour to it. The curry was quite nice. I also tried some of the eggplant marsala and venison curry and both were also nice. The venison did come with lots of bones though. We also got some of the momo to share and they were interesting, deep fried with a strong ginger flavour. We ate our fill quite easily with curry, rice, and naan. So last time we got our meal the chicken was fully burnt. Called them up, I was very polite about it. But not even a sorry, full denial. Which was funny because I wasn't calling up for a refund or anything like that. Why would I call to say the chickens burn hardout on one side to the point it was chewier than beef jerky. Then tonight, overcharged, and short supplied in our meal. And you guessed it, oh next time we refund you $3. I wasn't calling for money. I go to work to earn that myself. Told I was given an old menu. If you have your pricing on print. You should honor the price you have in print. I'm human, and I respect they are too...
