Tobys Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Waitākere Ranges

Let me share my horrible experience at Toby's Titirangi Restaurant. I purchased a groupon voucher for a three course meal and reserved a table for 8 pm on the weekend. When we reached there it was fully booked and not being a fussy customer we agreed to sit on the bar area as per suggested by the staff. There was no set up for the table as it should be in a fine dining restaurant and the waitress came and accidentky dropped cutlery on me ! Well it was fair enough as it could have happened to anyone. We got our entries and mains in 1.5 Hours time frame and the Food was impressive. After we finished our mains we were supposed to get a dessert as per the coupon surprisingly no one came to take our plates and a guy from the staff serving other people came and took our plates and then it took them ages to come and ask for our dessert order. We waited for 35 minutes for someome to come over and take over our order in which my partner and me visited the reception twice and saw the girls were laughing and doing nothing and ignored us. Finally we got pissed off with the bad service and lost our patience and complaint about this to the manager who surprisngly kept on smiling and did nothing to rectify their mistake and we end up leaving the restaurant without having our desserts. Went to Tobys a few years ago and it was quite good, went again last week for our wedding anniversary, just awful. Sat down in empty restaurant (should of known better maybe?), dirty menus, rattling noise from the kitchen was told it was the oven fan and lots of people complain?!? Went outside and sat at a dirty table, asked for the music to be turned on, speaker doesn't work. Ordered Chicken cordon bleu and fish of the day. Fish was off and the chicken was floating in a sea of thin salty sauce. Manager told us the fish was fresh yesterday!! Went to Takahe in Titirangi for dessert which was packed and the dessert made up for the evening ensuring the continuation of marital bliss. Came here a couple of weeks' ago on a Sunday night for dinner and was sadly disappointed in the food. Ordered the pie and steak. Steak on the menu is advertised as a 200gm steak but received two small steaks stacked on top of each other? Definitely not what you expect for a premium price meal! Pie filling was tasty but pastry was dry and chips were soggy. Beer selection good, only one cider, didn't check the wines, setting is nice enough.. Sent a message with feedback and received no response - was hoping for a great new local as have heard positive things from others but not feeling inclined to give them another shot...
