My advice is going to be to find the app on your mobile to order for these. If you do this then you get to queue up in a separate queue which is much shorter than the one for people who have to order from the actual shop. I personally feel like this is a very good ice cream shop, but they are definitely asking for a lot more money than what they are worth and I don't think they are actually that special. The ice cream I had from here was genuinely good ice cream but this place is extortionate for what you're getting and a bit gimmicky and also ordering is just a bit of a shambles. Once you've waited outside you have to be in front of the door before you can even see a menu and all that you can actually see is the ice cream flavors and then as you get to a bit further in front of the door you will be able to see the cones. At this point you can still not see the proper menu. I was mainly only visiting here as I really wanted to try the tiramisu and the Hokey Pokey ice cream. But I ended up loving the espresso and jalapeno ice cream so I ended up having that one instead after testing both of them which staff are very happy for you to do, once you do eventually make him inside of the building. You can literally only have two people stand inside the shop and you are not able to actually see the full menu until you are at the front of this queue so have to very quickly make a decision bearing in mind, there's loads of people behind you because of how this shops layout is designed and how this place is shared on social media. I found this extremely difficult as I'm not someone that can just make up their mind on the spot so I'm very thankful I had looked up a menu prior but that hadn't given me the price ranges although I knew was going to be fairly expensive due to comments read. There is an outside seating area here which was nice and shaded for people if they wish to. I will also comment that it says that they have free Wi-Fi and you can also see it on your phone so I know it does exist but nowhere in the whole shop do they show you where the Wi-Fi code is so you're unable to access it and you're not able to see the QR code to do an online order until you're near enough in the shop (remember, you can only get two people inside the shop area, but if you are a group of friends all huddle together you might be able to get four but obviously strangers would not be standing that close to one another). Overview, nice ice cream but overpriced, would only go there once to say you've been but would...
Read moreThis place takes ice cream to whole new level! Maybe it’s not really for everyone who is looking for a quick fix on a hot summer day like you would for cheap McDonalds soft serve but there is so much more to it!
The art, creativity and technology involved are what made this place so special and also that comes through to the flavours you taste that are made with proud quality New Zealand produce.
I took my friends from Perth there to try it out and they were utterly mind blown! One of them is a chocoholic. She ordered Cher’s chocolate flavour (infamously named after the world-class singer who apparently got obsessed with this ice cream since she last visited there). My dear, sweet friend gave me the look after she had the first bite of it that expression that she was so in awe. It was such a precious memory we shared just having ice creams!
My favourite item has to be the selfie cone! Can you imagine an ice cream that enables you to go on with the current trend shamelessly?
There is one made just for that!(also the entire piece is completely edible whether to eat there now or takeaway for later is up to your judgment).
What impressed me even more is also the customer service and the friendliness that their staff made you feel. They take so much pride in what they do with kindness to share special experiences if you request for a little glimpse in their back kitchen when they it’s not too busy they will welcome you with a smile! The staff named Umasha made my friends feel like VIPs when they got to see a bit the back operation!
Overall, I’m super happy to put this as highlight on my friends itinerary of what Auckland has to offer.
My advice is to order an array special items and share because they could be quite heavy but there are some small items available too if not keen on sharing.
If you are in Auckland and open for an opportunity to have fun, and to feel “enriched” physically and mentally you should not...
Read moreI used to love this place for their fresh ice creams and creative concepts. But that is a thing of the past now. Their prices were always on the higher end, but in the past their quality, concept and innovation justified it; but now the team at the counter lack knowledge or hospitality, the ice creams are still creamy but lack the freshness and above all quality of cones has diminished. We ordered a kiddie cone, a full-size waffle cone, and a cookie with ice cream. The cones were overdone and bitter and also broke into pieces with seconds, causing the ice cream to be all over the place - it wasn't a pleasant experience. Also I only realized it today that the concept that I loved with GIAPO, which is their toppings on ice cream now comes with an additional charge, which I didnt know when I ordered ice creams- but I wasn't asked or told of it, so I paid as told and then received a normal ( regular looking) ice cream on cone, for which I had paid $10.50. That was a huge disappointment for us!!! Cookie with ice cream was very filling, but the cookie was tough and wasn't something you could break into with the little spoons they offer. All and all for $32, it was an underwhelming experience, and I certainly won't be rushing to...
