The Cav — Restaurant in Waitematā

Food was a little disappointing. Ordered their only Platter on menu. Seemed Small. Contained Pita quarters (5) Didn't understand the pile of shredded lettuce ? It had heaps of hummus squid and chicken. Sauces took up most of Platter. Squid and chicken tasted like the oil was dirty and a little overdone maybe. Or it could of been the oil made it taste the same. Presentation as well as taste was low. I make better at home. I expected a lot better for price. POOR Ceasar salad was AVERAGE Pork belly tasted NICE, but serving was small boring and presentation was ok. Food looked low quality. Didn't match the Atmosphere which was awesome, music great! Although as soon as you walked into the toilet corridor you could smell urine.

Staff friendly & very polite A+ Some lacked knowledge of drinks. Drinks served were AVERAGE Boring looking cocktails No Meili Vodka cocktails (Disappointing considering the founder visits your establishment!!

The Cav is essentially a sports bar with a city view of Auckland.

As a place to watch the NBA finals it’s a winner due to the amount of screens that allow you to watch the game from pretty much anywhere in the venue.

While it would have been great to hear the commentary alongside the games, the playlist of classic rock tracks was enjoyable enough if a little over-bearing on the overall atmosphere of the venue.

Staff were polite, and the Southern Fried chicken with Corn Mash was great (few more onion rings wouldn’t go astray).

Food was reasonably priced however the beer menu could do with a shake up.

For a country with such a vibrant craft beer industry, this is just sort of venue where one would expect to find them being served and while they do serve a beer from Panhead, everything else on the list is less than impressive.

Booked for dinner at 6.30. We were looking forward to a nice roast. We were told when seated and given the menus that there were no roast potatoes with the roast. We were offered mash instead. Not ideal, but we had travelled there and didn't really want to go elsewhere. When we went to order the roast (with mash), we were told that they didn't have any more roasts! This was at 6.40pm on a Sunday. We decided that we would go elsewhere. The staff were very unapologetically and didn't seem to care! Very bad attitude! I'm very fair with my reviews, but quite honestly, I was extremely disappointed. I get that restaurant run out of food sometimes, but the flippant and uncaring attitude of the staff was shameful! I certainly would not recommend this place for anything! We ended up at the Surrey Hotel for roast, and it was great!
