What a great place! That’s why we chose to base our own party boat here. Z Pier is Aucklands charter base located 20mins walk from the viaduct. Very scenic marina with views of the harbour bridge and sky tower. Plenty parking although temporarily limited / restricted by a construction lay down area. Watch out for the parking wardens who do their rounds more here than any other place probably because of the scenic location and happy energy of the place. May be also because there is plenty cars with expired parking tickets. If you are boarding any of the Party Boats or Fishing charters just make sure you know how many hours you will be away and then add a couple, more hours on to your parking fees just incase of any delays or impromptu extensions of trips. There used to be Billfish Cafe in front of our boat but it closed down during Covid 19 lockdowns sadly. Waiting for the next cafe to open up and soon I hope.
Z Pier is a great place to go even if just to watch the happy energy of the customers boarding and even more happy on their return after a great party out on the water or having caught enough fish to feed the family. . It also has two boat ramps for boaties to launch and retrieve their trailer boats or jet skis. Can be entertaining to watch. Westhaven Marina have good safety systems in place. 24 / 7 monitored security CCTV surveillance and foot patrols by their friendly dock staff who do the rounds making sure everything is in order. 10 min walk to the harbour bridge and the shore side fishing areas set up there with baiting stations. Stuck for something to do on a saturday or sunday? Come...
Read moreI recon that it is one very amazing location where we go annually to board a charter vessel when I go on an annual fishing trip with Renaissance Disability Group, as I know that it the best marina I ever know of, where charter boats dock, to sail out into the Hauraki Gulf, to go out fishing, as I believe it is where us as Renaissance Disability Group clients coordinators and SLFs all meet up at the Crack of dawn, to board our charter vessel, as despite paid parking, as I know that I'm actually just one of the clients that come to Z Pier annually with Renaissance Disability Group, as I also know, it has amazing facilities, such as a Cafe, or bars and restaurants, a fish fileting station, and it even has it's own bait shop, and I am very impressed with how the Auckland Council, established this very amazing location on the waters edge, as I also know that it has and provides trolleys and barrows, to carry all our equipment down to our charter vessel, and also to carry all our harvested fish in, as I am so very amazed by what this place has to offer, and I know it is by far, a very amazing attraction right in the heart of North Auckland, just around near the Harbour Bridge, and the Waitemata Harbour, as I know that it is a very amazing spot as one of the best Marina's in Auckland City Center, and I totally rate this place to be a...
Read moreFacilities are decent, parking expensive. It was a nice surprise to see the cafe at the pier open at 6:30am Sunday morning when we were about to head out on a charter, coffee was enough to do the trick. Plenty of parking, it is open parking with a swing gate control, carparks are a bit tight and ended up with a door ding when we got back, but I think $20 to park all day on a Sunday is excessive and will be trying to find another way there in the future if we use Z pier again. There is a small station to clean and fillet your fish, which is a nice touch. All in all if parking was $10 a day, would have been ok with that and given...
