Finally found an opportunity to go to Prefab earlier this week, and it was well worth the wait. It’s a shame they’re only open during the week, as I would love to have Sunday brunch here in the future. From the moment we walked in, the service provided by staff was incredibly compassionate, and we were immediately seated in a corner that was a literal sun trap! The cafe itself is humungous and the interior + exterior decor is beautiful. There were many people virtually working inside which was honestly incredibly inspiring. Seeing all these professional people all concentrated and focused has motivated me to return to have a productive study session lol. In regard to the food, I began with an iced long black with trim milk which was absolutely delicious! Potentially the best coffee I have had all year. I have officially converted to Acme coffee. I ordered the Acme granola with greek yoghurt (Zany Zeus I believe) and FRESH BERRIES. I was absolutely overjoyed to see both fresh raspberries and blackberries because being blessed with an opportunity to eat these little delicacies only occurs on very special occasions and is lowkey equivalent to winning the lotto in my opinion. If you know you know. The granola itself was divine and very unique compared to others around. Rather than just being oat or nut/grain based, it had typical oat clusters, sliced almonds, seeds, bran flakes, wheat puffs and cranberries. I wouldn’t say it’s one of the top three best granola in Wellington, but it was still a 10/10 and would recommend. Mum ordered the avocado and tomato on rye bread with marinated feta and balsamic glaze. I personally didn’t try it as those flavours are not my cuppa tea, however she said the rye was super seedy and fresh, and all the various elements of the dish collaborated perfectly. Overall, I would highly recommend Prefab for a cheeky weekday brunch or snack. As the space is so large, it wasn’t even that loud despite it being somewhat busy which meant for a pleasant dining experience. The prices are average to other eateries in Wellington (granola was $17 and avo toast was $21) however the quality and quantity of the food and service makes it worth every penny.

Two of us arrived here at 12:15pm today on Monday. It’s a big restaurant but all the tables were taken except some chairs at a high table. They have 3 big sharing tables. About 1pm some people were waiting at the door as the place was pretty full. Yes, it is Monday but the amount of people wanting to dine here is quite overwhelming. A very popular place. No wonder they don’t need to open during the weekends. As we expected, the food and service were superb. I had Today’s fish, that was blue cod with a creamy mustard sauce. $30. Delicious. My friend had their salad. $21. It is quite substantial, and she was very happy. To finish our lunch, we shared an almost croissant. Mmm that was so good. She had bottomless filter coffee and I had a café latte. Such a great lunch experience! We totally recommend this place.

Ugh. Prefabs reeks of the bouji and fashionable set. Expect a wait on arrival while the frazzled and perpetually better-occupied Maître d', Bridget, ignores you even just a little. Coffee is influenced by the owners past life at Café L'Affare, so has good bones. Flat whites are bitter; mochas are very, very sweet. Food can be quick to arrive or very delayed, expect to be surprised one way or another. Most of the menu's offerings taste delicious owing to plenty of duck fat or butter. Though epicurean creativity is a bit flat in the Prefab kitchen. Options are a little limited, with two offerings of Potato Gratin on offer. Gluten free bread options are cheap and store bought. Plates are all presented like a student's dinner, flung on china at least. Bacon is delicious and succulent, though its partner bratwurst seems like a basic sausage. The cabinet boasts eye-wateringly good donut options. Prefab is the kind of place that thinks too highly of itself, as do its customers. Being invited here is like finding out your friend has lots of money, but no taste. Most of the clientele are depressingly middle class fat people - which might work for you. Avoid if you're a good person; enjoy the fattie options if you're not.

Wonderful spot to have a meal or just a drink. The atmosphere is vibrant and buzzy with very attentive waiting staff. Highly recommend a visit. I have not been to this wonderful cafe since covid hit and the changed hours. Needless to say on my visit today I was not disappointed, we were greeted by the always charming Brigit who sorted out a table for us and got our drinks organised. We had the fish and chips with a lovely salad and a pot of tea. The meal was tasty and fresh, the tea was made in a pot with real chamomile flowers, it was wonderful. Service is just as good as it has always been. Still highly recommend this.

This is a masterclass on how to run a cafe! The interior is super cool with expansive seating available. We didn’t have any issues getting a table & felt instantly welcome when we were greeted. The staff exude professionalism and absolutely carve up their role in the machine. It was really impressive. Coffee was 10/10, perfectly balanced and made with care. I had the mushrooms which was a generous serving, succulent & a taste sensation. They sat on a piece of grainy bread with a poached egg on top. As a big cafe head, I was stoked to visit Prefab & highly recommend it to those looking for a great meal out.

Prefab is my go-to It is always busting busy but food and drinks are always amazing with top notch service. Never been disappointed whenever I go there. There’s maybe a bit of a wait during peak lunch hours but sure worth the wait. - Coffee and their orange juice are a must - Food: i usually go for potato gratin, alternate between ‘with bacon and sausage or salmon’. Oli rolls is always a good choice as well as their hand-cut fries and that AMCE sauce. Devine👌🏼 And not to forget they have delicious donuts, highly recommend the salted caramel donut
