Star of India Indian Takeaway Paraparaumu — Restaurant in Wellington

This used to be my favorite takeaway place. It was the best indian around by far. But after tonights meal i dont think I will go back tbh. I havent been for ages and i feel like there must be new owners because everything was different. Firstly im not sure the onion bhaji had any onion in it! It was all dry batter. The naans are different and have hardly any filling despite the price going up from the last time i was there ... and then my curry ... i got a butter chicken, which i feel like was previously frozen. When i put it on my plate a bunch of water ran out which ruined the curry tbh. The sauce was different. Not as rich and flavourful as it used to be and despite there being heaps of big chunks of chicken in it they werent very tender and tasted weird so i ended up picking it all out. Very disappointed with star of India this last time. We have been ordering from them for many years now and have always had great Indian food. The last time we ordered we found bits of plastic in three of the masalas meals which had not come from our packaging and we were promised three new chicken tikka masala on our next order. However when we called up this evening the guy on the phone was not helpful and quite rude. They refused to give us our free meals that they had promised us and the guy on the phone told me to call back another time as they had more important customers trying to call through. My partner and I have been looking for a good Indian takeaway, so we drove half an hour to try this place based on the great reviews. We were trying not to get our hopes up, but we did not need to worry, because the curries we had were delicious! Very Tasty, great portion sizes (leftovers for lunch) and the woman at the counter welcomed us with great service. Just letting you know we had mild to medium heat and it was spicy in a good way.
