Two Fat Chefs — Restaurant in North Island

Can there possibly be something as totally insane as "too much breakfast"? I never thought so. Until Wednesday morning. Three of us stopped at "Two Fat Chefs" (alarm bells should already be ringing) on the Marine Parade, Paraparaumu Beach for a birthday breakfast for the teenager. We arrived and were greeted by very friendly staff but no fat chefs so felt comfortable with our decision to stop in. BIG MISTAKE. I ordered the omelette with ham, onions, and tomato. No where on the menu did it say that I had to stipulate whether I wanted chicken eggs or ostrich eggs (plural). Seriously, the tomato was a steak tomato cut in half and hidden between the folder omelette out of sight. Yep, it was THAT big. Wifey had the bacon and banana on waffles. I say waffles but what would best describe them would be house bricks. The teenager who had never been before went with scrambled eggs on toast ... probably the best decision of the three of us. Seriously though, if you're hungry and want some awesome food made by a super friendly team, stop in and see the Two Fat Chefs, you won't be disappointed. But if you're on a diet then it might be best if you asked for...

This Cafe is great, the atmosphere is simple and its largely a no frills kind of place. The menu is good, isn't over kill with dancy foods. Expect good harty meals from items you will know and expect.

My order of Big breakfast was perfect to fill you up. Not fancy, but hearty and plentiful. Approx $23.

Eggs Benedict was very generous with plenty of hollandaise source and a good size ham steak. No salmon option unfortunately. Approx $22

The fish cakes were excellent! The chef told us they add about 500g of freshly caught fish into one plate. They only make about 14 cakes a day. This was super fresh and tasty! Very nice. Not sure of the price.

Overall, great place but a tad on the expensive side so don't expect a cheap meal. That being said you get a good size...

Today we had the Waffles and the Portobello mushroom burger with blue cheese dressing and fries, plus 2 x lattes.

The waffles were perfect with fresh fruit, cream and mapke syrup, delicious 😋

The portobello mushroom burger was really delicious, the caramelised onions and blue cheese dressing was scrumptious, thank you.

Big Negative: as an international tourist I was not able to pay for my meal on a card OF ANY SORT, international cards credit or debit are not accepted. This was embarrassing and my friend had to pay for me. You need to...
