Chop Chew — Restaurant in Whau

Awful overpriced food. Awful service. I will never go back. At the time of covid we tried to keep it local and be kind but chop chew did not reciprocate. We ordered online and were told it would be an hour before our food was ready. on phoning up to check before heading to pickup we were informed our order had been canceled which was not great so being kind we said we would wait another hour. Headed to pickup at the alloted time but we're told it would be another 15 minutes but a full 45 mins later were given food. Headed home to find an item was missing. Phoned to ask for item to be refunded but were told we had to head back with all our food to get a refund. After a long discussion decided it was just not worth the grief. When we ate the food it was really Awful. A jungle curry was just frozen vegetables with chili flavored water. The spring rolls were similarly awful. This little eatery was a favourite Haunt but looks like the cafe/takeaway has been sold and the food tonight was overcooked and the only flavour was dark soy sauce!! My partner's meal was actually that bad we had to send it back as the food had a burnt taste where the sugar, that they add now, burnt and tainted the whole dish. the chef blamed the dark soy sauce!!!! we eat out all the time and lots of asian food we know what dark soy sauce flavour tastes like. The legendary ribs of past are now just coated heavily in a thick sweet sauce. the same sauce coated the tofu dish The Service is a young daughter whom rather hang with her friends ( understandably) and you had to get up and ask to be served. This is one of those places where you really regret not following your instincts and walked back out the door. We a had a really poor experience: Visited on a sunday and were the only customers. It took 5 minutes to be seated and another five miutes to order (after we had to ask for a menu). The staff were unfriendly and inattentive (like we didnt exist). prawn, vegetable, noodle stirfry had 5 prawns and was very oil green thai curry was very dull, sugary and small. Another customer came in and was completely ignored before walking out (smart man) the dessert was the best, but way overpriced for a small portion of rice and some fruit.

All this took approx 40 minutes to be brought to our table.

Highly recommend going to Makiin Thai instead - great service, delicious food, better price and only...
