FOOD: Can’t speak on other dishes but the pizza was REALLY well cooked. Flavoursome topping, a well cooked pizza base, well balanced oil. chefs kiss I didn’t try my wife’s gnocchi but it looked good and she seemed happy with it. I originally wanted a steak but I found it peculiar that there was no option for one as other Italian restaurants I’d been to had the option. No big deal though but just a heads up.
SERVICE: Good! No complaints. Wasn’t life changing but staff were friendly and accomodating. Extra points to the woman was working the till. She recommended sitting outside as we wouldn’t need to rush to let in a booking. A waitress also came over to check we needed anything more and refilled our bottled water without me asking. Excellent!
PRICE: Expect to pay about $30+ for a pizza. For some that may be off putting. For me I love pizza and don’t mind this range.
ATMOSPHERE: Great! Only Italian music playing. Classic red and white or blue and white checkered table cloths with tomato can cutlery holders. Felt like a fun transportation to what I imagine would be Italy. (I’ve never been so can’t comment haha). Sitting outside is refreshing although they could do with making a little more room. You have to squeeze pretty hard past one of the large tables to get to others and I ripped my shorts on the table corner. I promise it wasn’t because of my size, I’m tall and very slender haha!
All in all a 5 star experience. Just sad about my...
Read moreI recently dined at Settebello in Auckland with high expectations of authentic pizza, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The pizza arrived with a visibly burnt crust, so we politely asked if it could be redone, assuming it was a mistake. However, we were told that this is simply how they make their pizzas. Personally, I find a burnt pizza unacceptable, both in terms of taste and health. I know good pizza, and it certainly shouldn’t be served this way. Sadly, Settebello has lost a customer—I won’t be returning. I’ve just added a photo to show how burn was the pizza and the answer that I received is that normal the pizzas are like that in this restaurant UPDATED ON THE COMMENT OF THE OWNER I asked to the table next to me if I could smoke and he says it was fine. I don’t think it’s your business about my health and I’m pretty sure the cigarettes that I smoke are less toxic than your pizza. Even if you have made a second pizza try to be humble next time and say that the first one that you made was burn (the photo speaks for it self),rather than justify with silly excuses. Even after the photo that I took the owner justifies the pizza “a bit overcooked “. Who ever wants to go there I’ll suggest to don’t make any complaints, apparently customers are never right in this...
Read moreI have a big obsession with pizza 🙈 and how bloody cute is this place!!! I've been to Italy and this restaurant looks like I've stepped off the streets of New Lynn and straight into Italy. We actually got here a couple mins before they opened so we waited in the car. There were already two people ordering once we got inside. Another came to order after we had, and then two groups of people came to dine in while we were waiting for our food. It was only 5PM!!!! Shows how popular they are! We got the Margherita pizza (this has grown to be my fav pizza!) with a mix of buffalo Mozarella and smoked mozerella. You could definitely smell the smokeyness! We are also suckers for Gnocchi, so also ordered the gnocchi (homemade) with pesto, ricotta and parmigiano!! Both were delish! Next time we will dine in for the...
