Fine dining pricing without premium experience.
I was here for my mum’s 60th birthday. first issue I had was that it was quite crowded but that is expected on a weekend in Lagos. Despite the fact that I made a reservation 8 days prior, when I arrived, I still had to wait over 20 mins to get a table. I eventually got a table in their private area, the aesthetic was greatly underwhelming, a 4/10 at best in regards to the price range of this place.
During reservation, I requested for a birthday song and mini cake with candles, which I was told costs 10k, on arrival, I was told to pay an extra 5k for the “happy birthday write up ” on the plate. I refused because I wasn’t informed of that earlier; they wrote it anyways. The cake was incredibly dry, 1/10.
We had biryani, salmon & lamb steak. The biryani aroma was fantastic but the flavor (taste) was way too mild; the salmon was overall great, the lamb steak was way below average, it was over cooked, tough, and if I’m being honest I’m not sure that was actually lamb.
The biryani portion was decent, other than that the food portions are very small in my opinion, the ambience/aesthetic of the place doesn’t match the pricing so I at least expect decent food portions.
Taxes cost almost 40k and cumulative net spend per head was 50k.
There is ample parking space, the main hall is spacious, very very spacious, the bar is beautiful, food preparation didn’t take too long and the waiters were very cordial.
I would recommend for a casual date/event, but I wouldn’t bring someone here if I wanted to impress them. Not a terrible place but...
Read moreMy first time at cilantro with my sister for her birthday dinner and i will be honest with my review. I had an amazing experience at Cilantro From the moment I walked in, the ambience was stunning beautiful aesthetics, a warm and cozy environment that immediately made me feel comfortable. The music was played at a very low volume, which was perfect for having conversations without any distractions.
The staff were incredibly friendly and courteous, which made the visit even more pleasant. For my meal, I ordered the spaghetti bolognese with shredded beef sauce, my drink was virgin colada try it and thank me later. I requested it to be non-spicy, and they got it just right. I appreciated that you could customize your meal to your liking whether it’s spicier, more flavorful, or mild. My sister had the Chinese noodles with seafood boil, which was very spicy, so I’d recommend asking them to tone it down if you’re not a fan of heat. I noticed my spaghetti was broken in half which I didn’t like, for next time don’t break my spaghetti that’s diabolical but I will forgive you cos the food was tasty.
Another highlight was that you could take pictures and videos while seated, and even at the reception area outside, without any issues. It’s a classy environment, so I opted to take my shots while seated, which worked perfectly.
Overall, Cilantro gets a perfect score from me 10/10 for customer service, ambience, meals, aesthetics, and the overall experience. Highly...
