The Hungryman Restaurant — Restaurant in Wuse II

Do not be deceived by the plush setting of 'The Hungry Man' restaurant; it is a local restaurant in the sense that their focus is on native meals, and they're good at making delicious local dishes from around Nigeria.

Warning: try not to order intercontinental dishes because they not have that on their menu and they DO NOT know how to make them. I went overboard when I requested for chicken salad and it was described as "chicken in vegetable". I accepted the description. Alas, I got fried chicken pieces in vegetable 🤣🤣

Also, the plush setting of this local restaurant reflects in the bills: the meals are quite exorbitant. If you do not mind paying N3,500 for a plate of Poundo yam and Afang, please visit and have a meal here.

The service is exquisite: hot towels to clean hands and face, and oranges to freshen your breath after your meal. Feel free to use you hands as against the cutlery for they have wash hand basins in sight.

P.S. Go there hungry. The meals take approx. 15mins to arrive but the plate will fill the gap...

I made an order, it was the wrong item. I apologized and asked for it to be changed and they refused. Once it’s made it’s made. I tried to reason with them that what I ordered was actually the thing I hate but it was in the native language so I mistook it for something else. Manager refused. I order from there 3 times a week. Yet no consideration. They would rather lose a long time customer than just correct 1 single dish. Made no sense to me. The economy is hard for all of us but if you’re in the hospitality business, sometimes you have to be hospitable even when it’s a customer’s fault. I was very disappointed because I like the food but the manager didn’t handle this well at all. I have been to several restaurants and have never experienced this. Disappointing. The environment is nice but the ac wasn't cooling and it was a very hot afternoon. The restroom wasn't neat and there was no tissue. The waiter didn't look like he knew what he was doing, our orders got mixed up, the wait was so long and one of us didn't eat in ,he had to take his food away because his food arrived after we all had eaten, they forgot about him. We were attended to by 1 person and we were about 12 people, service was so slow. Food was very delicious but the bill got mixed up too. And we were delayed because of that.
