SOI One - Thai Street Food, tucked away in the heart of Ålesund Center and part of the Atlantic Hotel, is a delightful spot for Thai cuisine enthusiasts. The restaurant’s interior is smartly designed with different eating zones, providing a warm and intimate atmosphere even in its spacious setting. The unique service model, blending order-at-table and self-service, along with options for both dine-in and take-away, adds to its appeal.
The service, though, had a minor setback as our starters and main courses arrived almost back-to-back, which felt a bit rushed. The staff were efficient, true to the street food experience, but a bit more friendliness and interaction would have been nice. Thankfully, the food preparation was impressively swift.
On the food front, the spring rolls hit the mark. The green curry packed a good, spicy punch as promised, though the chicken was slightly on the dry side. The Tom Yum soup continued the spice trend, indicating that SOI One caters to those who love genuine Thai flavors.
Pricing at SOI One is reasonable, with a flexible pick-and-choose menu. Just a heads up that extras, like sauces for the spring rolls, are not included and need to be ordered separately.
In a nutshell, SOI One - Thai Street Food brings a slice of Thailand to Ålesund with its tasty offerings and budget-friendly prices, though there’s a little room for improvement in service warmth and some aspects...
Read moreI was so excited to see this Thai restaurant in Norway. The building is beautiful from the outside, and the interior looks very lovely. It's a cafe and self-service style. You can scan the QR code to order and pay. But I opted for the order at the counter. I was so looking forward to seeing the food. Wow, they're amazing, came out very fast, taste delicious and 100% authentic Thai and the real taste of Thai. We ordered Pad Thai, stir-fried minced beef with chilli basil, prawns Tom yum, a single prawn tempura, all served with good-quality Jasmine rice. The service is great, fast and friendly. I love the interior design of this place. It's modern, clean, and comfortable. Must try! Bill is 838KR or around...
Read moreWe ordered #21 Pad Kee Mao with prawn. The service was really quick, and the staff were very good. However, I think the chef should review the preparation of the dishes, as it wasn’t very good they mention dish will be spicy but it wasn’t spicy it was kinda sweet. I would rate it 4/10. The price also seemed quite high considering the portion size although I don’t mind paying more if the food is nice. The staff were helpful and resolved our issue quickly.
Also, I noticed that if you take the food away from the restaurant, you don’t have to pay tax, but if you eat in, you do have to pay tax.
But restaurants atmosphere is really good...
