I went to this restaurant for a valentine's day dinner with my partner. The food quality was okay, but the service and dine facility was horrible. We were provided with a table where two people are supposed to sit. But it was too small that you can't place anything other than your plate. We ordered a butter chicken samosa and it was good 👍 along with Chicken Dhansak Soup as starter. The soup was not tasting good, it lost its taste by the chef trying to make it spicy. As main course we ordered lamp kolapuri, which was good and Beef Pepper Tikka, Kerala Style which was horrible. The beef dish doesn't feels to have any flavour of Indian beef dish and the sause that was served along with this doesn't taste good. The waiter was unaware of the dishes that they have. We ordered Kashmiri nan, waitress explained this as a 3 piece bread dish which was non sweet and I got a sweet nan with 4 pieces of bread. And as dessert we ordered a Likør flambé Gulab Jamun which was supposed to be lickrish, but we were served with a normal gulab jamun and was billed with the price of lickrish gulab jamun.
I was totally unhappy to be treated like this on a...
Read moreThe food lets this place down massively. The cooking is awful. I went on a Friday evening. We ordered Baigan Pakora, Handi Lamb, and Chicken Karahi. The Baigan pakora was bland, cut in triangular shape and did not have the crunch or fluffinees of a pakora. The Karahi was full of big pieces of onion and tomato and lacked any aroma of spices that one should expect. The lamb Handi was relatively better but tasted bland. We also ordered Roti and Naan which were decent. The service was okay, except that no one asked about the food or if we needed anything else. Like a previous post, I also felt they were in a hurry to turn the table. And the table provided was too small for two people - we had to put our drinks on the counter.
And a curious thing - it is named after the Hindu holy city of Varanasi with the decor showing the Arti in the ghats yet it gladly serves you beef from the same kitchen where other food are being cooked. There is no way to prevent cross contamination. The lack of any cultural understanding while projecting/appropriating cultural heritage is...
Read moreWe stopped by twice at this restaurant. First was in the afternoon when we wanted some chai while it was chilly and rainy outside. The chai was good and it made us want to come back for dinner. We decided to do an early dinner, at 5:45 PM thinking the restaurant would have been empty. We even asked the host after our chai and she thought before 6 PM would be empty. However, the restaurant was packed when we showed up for dinner, which obviously is a good sign. We were lucky enough to get a table. We ordered paneer tikka, naan, roti, kofta, baingan aloo, and paneer methiwala and all of them were really good. The baingan aloo was a bit spicier than the others but all delicious. The only negative experience we had was the slowness in the service. We had to flag someone down 15 min later to place our order and then another 15 min in the end to order dessert. Given how busy they seem to be, they may want to consider hiring another staff...
