I would give 3½ if possible, but since I can only do whole stars, we're rounding down. We ordered gyoza, takoyaki, chicken karaage, yakitori and the salmon tempura mango sushi. All in all, very good food! The service was lacking, with it taking a good 5-10 minutes for anyone to even bring us a menu despite the restaurant being quite empty (went at 8pm). The food came quickly, and for the most part was worth its price. The standouts are the chicken karaage, gyoza and yakitori. The takoyaki is alright, though the amount or bonito flakes on top take away from it a bit as they dry your mouth out quite a lot. The sushi was good, and I enjoyed the flavor of the rice used in it compared to other places, though I would've liked more if the tempura scampi or flambe salmon was at least a little warm rather than everything being cold. Also they should invest in some better ginger, as it was just incredibly sweet rather than having the bite that it should.
The atmosphere was mid, with sparse decor but a very open setup that doesn't feel as cramped as many places do lately. I do enjoy being able to see the chefs make our food, though I'm not a fan of watching the servers just stand around and chitchat when they should be bringing by a menu. They didn't even come by to check in after we got our food, and it just felt like we were unwanted there.
Overall though, I enjoyed the food and a nice dinner together, even if it could've been a better environment. I feel the food...

The place would easily get 4 stars from me if they trained their staff. They were way more interested in their phones than the customers. The beer I ordered came in a dirty glass and when we ordered dessert, after struggling to get hold of a waiter for a long time, no one bothered to clean our table from dinner. And it wasn't busy at all. I really hope the people in charge will read this review because I'm writing it because of the places potential. The kitchen staff is present. Read moreSkal man starte en ny sushi-restaurant i Kristiansand, bør den være bra for å kunne konkurrere med de allerede godt etablerte restaurantene i byen. Sabi lever ikke opp til forventningene, og leverer LANGT under hva man kan forvente i denne prisklassen.
Service er ikke-eksisterende. Null oppfølging av bord - forstår effektiviteten ved bruk av bestilling via QR, men man forventer fortsatt en viss service på restauranter i denne prisklassen. Bestilling via QR-kode fungerer dårlig når flere på bordet bestiller hver for seg, da en får drikke lenge før den andre (selv om bestilling ble lagt inn samtidig) og det samme med mat. Den andre personen på bordet fikk mat etter ca 15 min (veldig bra), mens jeg ventet ca 30 min (få spisegjester både inne og ute).
Til denne prisen forventes også sushi som leverer både på smak, utseende og kvalitet. Dette var også langt under forventninger. Hår i maten, smakløst og fiskestykkene (laks nigiri) var blass i fargen og hadde nok sett bedre dager. Dette var som å spise sushi fra butikk eller samlebånd. Spurte servitøren om håret var inkludert, men fikk verken beklagelse eller spørsmål om kompensasjon (annet enn om man ville ha ny - men siden vi da hadde ventet 1 time på at noen skulle rydde bort eller følge opp, var det ikke fristende med mer hår/mat).
Mye støy fra gjester som kanskje burde fått skjenkenekt et eller to ølglass tidligere.
Obs: prisene var høyere på QR-koden enn på nettsiden, noe som var litt forvirrende..
Her kommer jeg ikke tilbake - finnes bedre restauranter i byen som både tilbyr bedre sushi til en billigere penge, og da med service...
