Birkelunch is more than just a place to eat—it’s a place that feels like home. The owner, Ajay, is a trained chef with a repertoire as wide as it is delicious. Whether it’s Mediterranean, Indian, or just about anything else, the food consistently impresses. His Greek salad, in particular, is the crispiest and freshest in town—hands down the best.
The Indian dishes are equally outstanding, bursting with authentic flavor and balance. But beyond the variety, what truly sets Birkelunch apart is the love and heart that goes into every meal. You can taste that it’s not just food—it’s Ajay’s passion on a plate.
Ajay himself is a warm, multi-talented man whose global exposure shines through in both his cooking and his welcoming attitude. He speaks many languages, and that cultural breadth is reflected in the diversity and authenticity of his menu.
For me, Birkelunch has become an extension of my own kitchen—I eat here at least two to three times a week. Ajay represents the very best of an owner-operated establishment: personal, heartfelt, and uncompromising in quality. Sadly, this kind of place is far too rare in Oslo’s food scene, which makes Birkelunch all the more special.
Highly recommended—for the food, the atmosphere, and the man...
Read moreWonderful service from the owner, Aj, who accommodated my boyfriend and I for dinner about a half hour before closing for dine-in (they offer take-out after 10pm!). Also, the tzatziki was flavorful and bright- perfect for the salad and the naan. After the meal I had a fernet to finish it off. I will absolutely be coming back for more, the lamb gyro is next on my list. Thank you for the exceptional...
