Hot Temper — Restaurant in Oslo

EDIT - Came back and the issues I described seem to be solved. Or perhaps I was unlucky the first time! I have upgraded to 5 stars.

I've given this place 4 Stars, but I wish to make clear that it is an average between 5 stars for the food (phenomenal) and 2 stars for the "background organizational structure".

The food is amazing. Hot Temper's Fried Chicken is simply great. We will surely come back. The portions are generous and I believe it's totally worth the premium pricing.

The ventilation system is also excellent. Whereas in other chicken joints you leave smelling oily, that problem isn't present here.

Staff is very kind.

Where I think the problems with this place lie are mostly organizational issues. They have a system whereby you have to wait at the entrance before being seated by a waiter, but it is obviously mismanaged, so you have half the tables in the restaurant empty and a crowd of people waiting at the entrance at the same time. This got frustrating for us and I imagine others too (I've added a video). I think the same type of problem reflects on how long you then have to wait for the food, although I'm not sure.

There is only one toilet for the whole restaurant, but there is no option to clean one's oily hands after the meal without accessing the toilet. So there is a big queue, which I suspect would be halved if there was a basin and some soap or some wipes accessible in a place that doesn't force you to stand in a long queue with everyone going to the toilet.

The music is a little too loud inside and it interferes with conversations.

The menu also doesn't have pictures, which would be very helpful.

So in summary the food is amazing, but there are a number of discomforts on the organizational side. I suggest coming outside of "peak time". Either early or late so they don't...

Me and my sister were here today. Never again.

The restaurant was a very comfortable environment and the waiter was very kind to us. We ordered six wings each, a drink each, fries to share and a dip to share. I had a good lemonade and my sister had the homemade ice tea. The ice tea tasted like pure sugar with a slight aftertaste of green tea. We like sugar, but this was extreme. The wings were the main problem. I have never had fried chicken this… wet? It was dripping with oil and I could feel it clogging my veins. My sister had the norskville spice and it was very overpowering and salty. I had the Nano or something similar and it was fine as a flavor, but also very overpowering. The fries were good, but the dip… we ordered ranch, and I’m not sure where things went wrong. Either it was just miscommunication, and we got the wrong dip or something was seriously wrong. I’m hoping (and assuming) that maybe we got the blue cheese dip, not that we got expired ranch.

The other problem was how we heard our server talk to a table next to us. One of the customers had an allergy, and was politely informing the server. The waiter acted like it was a big bother. The customers also had some questions about the menu and the waiter answered condescendingly and with no patience. This was very surprising to both me and my sister because she was very professional with us.

All in all the food was not nearly good enough for us to go again, you get sick of the wings before...
