East Kitchen — Restaurant in Oslo

I can't review the food fairly since their customer service was dismal, if present at all. My family and I had walked a long way to try out East, based on the stellar reviews. We walked in around 2:30 pm to an empty restaurant and waited. There was some hustle and bustle inside the kitchen but nobody came to our service after politely saying "Ni hao" to get one's attention. Then a man seated at a nearby table said we needed to order at the counter ( I had mistaken him as a customer, since he originally ignored us.) I asked him if he worked there and he nodded. And then I asked how come no one was around to help. He just shrugged his shoulders, apparently couldn't caring less. So my family and I (all of Chinese descent) just left and were very disappointed with the whole encounter. We looked for a good thai restaurant on Red Note and East Kitchen popped up. It's a small place with 10 table seats and window seats. Its main business seems to be take-away. But go there and eat there and you will find the real asian food. We had Gyoza and satay sticks for starter. Very tender and tasty chicken and peanut sauce. Crunchy and flavour full gyoza. Very good start. Main dish was Vietnamese Noodles, Pad Thai with shrimps and thai curry with duck. Again 3 great dishes and very tasty. We felt like we were eating in Vietnam and Thailand. We can highly recommend this place if you rave for thai/vietnamese/chinese food....

This has been my favorite place for 3 years now. I live in the neighborhood and I usually visit for the lunch menu. The food is fantastic ( I think I have tried almost everything by now), always fresh, service is great and very friendl. Great prices especially if you get the lunch menu.
