Kastellet Oslo — Restaurant in Oslo

This place just opened and it looked super cute on the outside so we were very happy when we got a table - and what an experience! The waiters were super attentive and gave us a great spot and a good presentation of the menus. One of the people in my party was vegan and even though they don’t advertise it on the website, they had an amazing vegan 9-course option. Unlike many upscale restaurants where each course is just a mouthful and the time between each dish is too long for hungry guests, Kastellet served an incredible mixture of tasty and large-enough meals timed perfectly so that we were never waiting too long but we managed to finish the pairing glass of wine in between. The wine menu was broad and impressive.

Speaking of wine, Kastellet also has an exclusive wine club in the cellar and a super cozy cocktail bar on the second floor - highly recommend the BonBon drink. Almost don’t want to speak too highly about this place because I imagine it’s going to be difficult to get a table once everyone else discovers this gem - so you should check...

We randomly choose this restaurant yesterday for dinner. At first, we were settle by a waitress in a table with a huge plant above our heads, we had to move a little bit the chairs so we could see each other, since the leafs where right on our face. Then we ask for our meals, tasty but quite small portions. But the real problem was when the bill came, I believe the waiter mistakenly switch out our bill with another table, and i end up paying almost the triple of the original order. I’m on vacation and rarely ask for the receipt, but after the payment I took a look on the price and notice the mistake. After a few long minutes trying to get the attention of some waiter someone from the kitchen staff helped us and then the first waitress came to apologize and get the correct bill. They refund us but not refunded the tip. I don’t care about the tip itself, but I was disappointed with the attitude. We could easily left tripled charged, they took us a long time to get our problem fixed and sounded that we were guilted for not checked...

Randomly decided to dine here on a Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised. Service is fast and friendly. Drinks are tasty. Generous portions of food. We thought the plates were small and ordered 5 dishes, the risotto, mussels, steak and fries, beef tartare, and duck salad.

Our favorite had to be the steak and fries, insanely tender piece of meat and well seasoned. Risotto and mussels portions were huge and tasty. The beef tartare was light and good. Would skip the duck salad, it missed something... But overall the meal was satisfying and for a very reasonable price, good value for money.

Looking forward to coming here...
