👎🏻. The food was alright and the atmosphere was good, nothing wrong with it. But I would not go to this restaurant again because the service was terrible. It was my wife and I, and one other occupied table in the entire restaurant. The server spent the whole time we were there sitting behind the bar with his face in his phone. It took him 10-15 minutes just to come get our drink orders, and it took them another 30-45 minutes to bring out our “street food.” The server did not come to the table at all throughout our meal, and we finally started waving him down to pay because we had to leave. When he did bring the card payment machine, he came and dropped it on the table and left. We were here on holiday and neither of us speak or read Norwegian, so I used Google translate to read the screen, and thereby learn he’d had the gall to leave it on the tipping screen. If he’d come back I would have clarified for him that he was asking for a donation, not a tip, because he didn’t do anything. Some of the worst service I’ve seen in a restaurant in a...
Read moreI ended up getting food poisoning. The whole package. And I got a bonus tonsil infection. I am guessing their hygiene routines are lacking a lot. I'm on antibiotics now for the bacterial infection in my throat.
Aside from that, bad service. Waitresses didn't know the answers to questions, one spilled over our drinks. Both did not look like they wanted to be at work at all. Some of the food arrived cold. Some soggy that was supposed to be crispy. It wasn't even busy. Yet they never came to check if we needed more drinks or if we were happy with the food until the end.
Should have known by all the red flags in the service that something worse was going to happen not so long after getting home. I could already feel something was off when we were done eating. But I thought it might just be the garlic.
If you are about your restaurant making it, the worst thing to do is to be unhygienic.
I've been to cheaper indian places in Oslo and never gotten an upset stomach or a tonsil infection. And I am not food sensitive.
As a local to Grünerløkka, I do...
Read moreThe 3 stars are only for the food. We had a very sour experience with respect to the service initially, but then it went fine. I went with a brown friend without reservation as the website mentioned reservation was required for more than 4 people. There is a brown waiter who denied any seat availability any time soon. We still waited there as another friend was supposed to join in. Within 2minutes a table was vacated. Another waiter (from Egypt) welcomed us and did the needful. While he helped us, this brown waiter still had a sour face and was murmuring something to another waiter. Facing racism from a Brown guy is the least that we could expect here in Norway. He was sweet with other white people but not us. This Egyptian waiter was very sweet and the only reason for us to stay. No complaints with the food. Could have been better if the service was...
