Villa Paradiso Majorstuen — Restaurant in Oslo

On a recent trip to Oslo, my husband and I found ourselves wandering the Majorstuen neighborhood looking for a bite to eat. Perhaps not on the main street and perhaps not filled with tourists like us, so when we turned a corner to discover dozens of locals dining al fresco at Villa Paradiso, we decided to join in. It was an odd time of day - not quite dinner, well past lunch - but the menu offered a nice variety to choose from. Looking around, however, it was obvious that everyone was there for the pizza, so we did the same. Taking our server's advice, we settled on the parma. What can I say? Delicious crust, crisp arugula, just-the-right-amount-of-salty ham, melted cheese, topped with pine nuts! So yummy! Add to that the pleasure of the people watching, house gazing, and friendly conversation and we couldn't have asked for more. We ordered two pizzas for take away, one of which was ordered gluten free (since one of us have Celiac disease). When we opened the boxes at home, the gluten free one looked surprisingly good. We called back and asked if they made a misstake? After we described how the bread for the gluten-free one looked, they said it might have been a mix up between the two.

When we got back to the restaurant to pick up two new pizzas, the staff at the restaurant didn’t take it seriously and just laughed about the situation. It took a while just to get an excuse.

None of the boxes/pizzas was marked gluten free, so it was impossible for us to know which one was the gluten-free one. Luckily we noticed this before we started eating and no one got sick.

After having a long nice walk with our dog, we were searching for a restaurant where we can have our dog and we came across Villa Paradiso. A nice Italian restaurant just around the corner in Majorstuen. We got a table outside in lovely weather and as soon as we were settled, one of the kind staff came to us with some water for our dog which was such a nice and lovely thing done by him. Both food and appetizer were very good. And the service was also very good.
