We were 2 people, celebrating some events with a day/night out, for some shopping and good food. Decided to go get a burger and share a bottle of wine. Kverneriet Majorstua has a great location, the actual interiors of the place is great too. Moreover, the food was quite ok, we did the “true blue” burgers and some chicken wings. The fries were soft and soggy and the piece of meat inside the burger seemed kind of small. But all in all, a good food experience up until the waitress came to clean the table. She did a mistake by pulling over our bottle of wine, and the wine went inside one of our shopping bags, basically destroying all the contents of it. With costly content in it. She did not at all say sorry, and when we pointed out this disaster to one of the other waitresses, she excused her by saying “sometimes you know, waitresses can be a little stressed”. Still no apology, and they did NOTHING to repair the damage other than to give us the business card of the restaurant. We paid full price, even for the wine that the waitress spilt inside our shopping bag. No offers or discounts rather than a free dessert, that we rejected with the simple reason that we were full and couldn’t eat anything else. The waitress that did the mistake came back and claimed “she didn’t see it”. So here we are, left with an absolutely ridiculous experience due to people that does not know the first thing about customer service, let alone customer rights. And attempts to lie to us straight in the face. And the manager was notified, but she didn’t even bother to show up at our table. We will of course pursue this situation further as well as never going to such an imbecile place again. We highly recommend to stay away from this place.
NB: after our visit we were contacted by the restaurant manager, and she was being very professional about it all, offered us a gift card as compensation with a value equal to our check. We went back and had a great experience. All the cred to...
Read moreBy the name of the restaurant, I expect more than we got.
We hadn't reserved tables, so two seats by the bar was okay for us. The menus are in English only. Come on guys, we're in Norway. A Norwegian menu with English sub details would be nicer. Staff is attentive and nice. And both our drinks and food comes relative quickly.
As for the food, I was tempted by the Umamiburger, and my friend had the Boss burger. Mine was served with regular fries and my friend's burger came with fried cheese balls. The cheese balls were maybe the only thing that tasted as expected. The burgers were almost DROWNED in sauce and the whole thing was messy and it tasted only mayo and ketchup. Even if I scraped off as much as I could, the burger tasted sauce only. Where did the Umami thing go? This is maybe the most sause drowned burger I've ever had. My friend's burger was the same and as I looked over to the other tables, their burgers looked like they've had the same treatment. And as it comes to the fries, they looked crispy and nice but was unfortunately quite soggy. The taste was okay, but soggy fries is not of my favourite. The cheese balls were as mentioned the only thing that reached my expectations.
If I'm coming back here, it will definitely not be for the food, but for the drinks. The lady behind the bar made delicious looking cocktails, and next time I think I'll rather have a drink and will eat my burger...
Read moreOur first dine-in at Kverneriet during the pandemic. The burgers and the fries are excellent as always. However what is not at all excellent is the table booking and service. We booked a table which is only available for the ser duration of two hours per booking. When we arrived we had to wait 15 minutes for table service, and at least 20 minutes for the food to arrive. When we were finished eating, we sat unattended for at least 15 more minutes before we got service. So when we desired some dessert to complete our meal experience, there were only 25 minutes left until the next guests would be there for our table. So out of the two hours we got, about an hour were actually spent on food preparation and eating, the rest wer spent on waiting for table service, and as a result we had no time for dessert, and thus a mediocre experience.
We could not choose a longer booking time, nor could we be faulted for the slowness of the table service. If there are issues with staffing, we would ofcourse understand things are slow, but in that case, the tables bould have longer booking intervals too, to compensate for the less effective table service and increased waiting.
We will not return to Kverneriet unless there are at least three hours table booking, or "drop in" tables are an option again, where we could have a table for more...
