On the positive side the Singha was cold, they had “condoms” to keep them cold, and it was priced the same as the other beers.
The Som Tam was as spicy as promised (four chilies = Very spicy) and they had already advertised that they put carrots in it. But we did miss dried shrimps. The spring rolls were crispy on the outside. But the first bite revealed that they had been frozen. The interior was rather cold and sadly mushy.
I do get that you call the Som tam a starter because it is a small dish. But if we haven’t finished it when the mains arrive I find it odd to be asked if it should be taken away.
The three mains sharing menu was plentiful for the two of us. The biggest let down was the rice, which had been cooked with way too much water. Just a little more water and it would have been porridge. The “Paneng curry gai” have one chili in the menu. Which should be “A little bit spicy”. But we found it rather bland. It is also the first time I have found cauliflower in a Thai dish. I would have known had I checked the dish under Mains. Moo baikaprao also had four chilies rating but was not as spicy as the Som tam. But it had the right punch. I did not find much bai kaprao (holy basil leaves) in the dish, which was a disappointment. Normally when eating Chicken cashew, I must take care not to eat the dried chilies. But that was not a problem here. As almost every dish have a Thai name, it is odd this one was not named “Gai Pad Med Mamuang”. All three dishes were served in bowls, which is expected for the paneng. But the two others were served with much more fluids than we are used to.
The interior is interesting with quite a few Thai touches. But why don’t they play a...
Read moreA must for thaifood lovers! This is an unique restaurant. You get a feeling of being in Thailand. Authentic, fantastic thai food Smiling, serviceminded staff ( be patient with the new ones) Relaxed atmosphere Good music ( mostly easygoing reggae, R&B and pop) Tasty wines ( good value for money) Good drinks
The «bad weather - effect» is a fun effect, that gives you even more a feeling of being in Thailand.
It is easy to «fall in love» with this restaurant. I have been here with family, friends, colleagues , kids and also by myself. They all loves this place ( and want to go back). If you like thai food and want yo have a good time eating; this place is a must.
The restaurant manager is a one of a kind. She is working hard, always smiling and makes the big difference ( there are more Yaya’s restaurants in Oslo. I only went to...
Read moreNice starters, but they were cold by the time they were served at the table. The green curry main course was a huge disappointment, not much flavour and no spiciness at all to it and lots of cauliflower in it. Never had a green curry in Thailand, UK or the US with cauliflower in it. Without the spices and stronger flavours it can be quite sweet due to the coconut milk in it - the cauliflower just made it even sweeter. Service all really patchy, staff hanging out at the Bar, so hard to see them and attract their attention to get more drinks, or even pay the bill. Layout and greenery makes it challenging, so really need them to walk...
