This will be a long review and I will include everything to be fair. We went there before a late-night train trip, so were wearing casual clothes unlike more dressed-up customers. We arrived around 9 pm but many people showed up after we did. We wanted to sit outside and were told we could sit inside and switch to an outdoor table when available. And we did switch in a short period. My friend ordered an expensive glass of wine but she didn't like the taste, so she asked if she could get coffee instead. This might not be very common in Norway but not unusual in the US. She asked very politely knowing this, and was told the coffee would be extra. This all happened while we were waiting for our main course. It took them about an hour to serve it. People who arrived later than us were served and finished their food before we were served basically. The pizza was good but was served lukewarm, if not cold. We didn't complain and ate it. Then we ordered desert and coffee, and were told about 15 mins later that they ran out of strawberries and couldn't make the deserts. At that point we were already served our coffee but they were lukewarm, too. Also, I ordered amaretto custard gelato and biscotti and I am sure it didn't have strawberries. When it was time to pay, we mentioned how dissatisfied we were with the food and how much we waited. They were very responsive and we were not charged for the things we didn't like. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience. My husband lives in Trondheim and I am here only a couple of months. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for months and we wanted to do it when my friend from the US was visiting. I don't think that I will go again or recommend it to anyone else. It could be just us, maybe other people have a much better experience. It is supposed to be a up-scale restaurant and it looks and smells amazing. I don't want to think that we were treated the way we were because it was obvious that we weren't locals but could be case. And I am only giving it three stars because they were very polite and tried hard to reverse the bad impression they gave at the...
Read more1 Star is still too much: Nice Location poor Service, worst experience: Table Outsider, Food sounded Good, we ordernd and were asked if we want the Starters First and Said yes. First we got a Drink that was ordered Virgin with Alc. 45minutes later we had to ask for our Food while 3 other later tables were already eating. It was excused with busy kitchen (obvously only for our Food the other tables got theirs). 75 Minutes after order we finally got Food. All together at ones (no Starters to Start), missing one starter, the Salomon wasn‘t with the Risotto (just the Lemon for it) and the Pizza for our son was almost cold. By the way asparagues Risotto included Zuccini- at least It’s all Green. And at the end we did not even...
Read moreThe place was noisy and dark. We were here for dinner and due to the dark and noisy premises we did not enjoy it much. When we arrived and just sat down, the waitress immediately asked us what we would like, they didn't give us a space to think about it. When they brought us food, they immediately ran to ask us how it tasted, and we didn't even have time to taste it yet. The waitresses were very annoying and intrusive at times. Pasta in cream sauce with mushrooms was too salty, otherwise it was good. The beef in the spaghetti was tough and chewy. Prices are favorable on Solsiden. But next time I'd rather go...
