Søstrene Karlsen — Restaurant in Trondheim

Short version/ Conclusions : Small portions, dizzy but friendly staff that they were too few, or were not properly organized. One langoustine is not enough for a main dish. They have a nice idea but the experience was disappointing.

We ordered pepper crab, langoustine, cheese burger, mussels and fish n chips. My dish was the pepper crab but I sampled the other dishes except the cheese burger.

The portions was on the smaller side but the langoustine dish did only consist of one medium langoustine with very small serving pasta on the plate. It basically looked like an appetizer. One small langoustine is not enough for a main dish.

On the positive side, dishes I tasted did taste well. The fish and chips s quite standard, and had a nice Asian inspired salad. The mussels was quite good. The pepper crab was quite ok, suspect they used soy, oyster sauce maybe kecap manis plus the black pepper. It lacked some freshening and balancing elements, ingredients, things like fresh coriander, acid sources like lime, or other herbs to give variations could have made the dish more interesting. It was not a big portion either.

I may be a little of a bread freak here.. But.. Three of the dishes was supposed to be served with bread and aioli. We did receive a basket of bread with a tiny portion of aioli while waiting for the food, but when our main dishes was served, we did not receive any more bread before asking once, then reminding a second time, even though it was supposed to be included as a part...

Several tables outside are free, but I am told that there is no place and that they are reserved. I have dinner in the nearby restaurant, and for about an hour I look at those reserved tables, always empty.
