Osteria Moderna — Restaurant in Trondheim

We booked table for 6 and service was excellent. Great view to the busy kitchen. Fun and exotic with what appears to be genuine itallian waiters. Food was tasty with quite some difference in tadtes and feel (we tried a range of dishes)

So.. why this 3 star review?!

The fish was delivered with kveis, several, and that was discusting. Kveis is a small parasite common in fish and not dangerous when cooked, but not very delicate. It is normally quite visible when preparing fish and I for one would throw away fish with kveis. I suspect it was lack of understanding or time to check from chefs.. not served on purpose..

When we pointed it out, they did come with new fish, and even ensured us that it was not dangerous.. but.. well.. not a good feel.

So all in all, happy ti recommend, but maybe be aware that fish could have kveis.. if it creeps you out .. go...

I went there after I read a lot of good reviews that make me very curious and actually I spent a pleasant evening in this place, the waiters were very friendly and able to make me feel totally comfortable (which is not a given). being a wine lover I couldn't miss a good glass and I was surprised by the vastness and accuracy of the wines offered, the red I took was incredible, with an enveloping warmth that settled on the palate leaving an aftertaste that reminded me a holiday in Italy. I took a very good fetucine all’agnello and at the end a dessert and finally a dessert that added one more reason to come back: a contrast of hot and cold that left me pleasantly surprised. It was brought to the table and finished off with hot chocolate poured directly by the waiter, which made me feel spoiled😋. An experience of course...

Cool Italian restaurant with pretty good food and very welcome service. I was there on Christmas period and was lucky to taste Christmas set with marvelous meet: it was soft and well cooked. Place also has quite a rich wine menu. You can come and sit on a bar counter if you're interested in drinks. Place itself quite big and there are different areas for different company sizes. I was a little unlucky and there was a little noisy, guess it's because of Christmas period and majority of the good places are mostly fully booked which says about restaurant quality. Would be interesting to come back again later and taste something...
