Dinner at this restaurant was intended to close an otherwise unforgettable stay in beautiful Lofoten. The night on which we reserved a table coincided with the World Championship in Cod Fishing. The place was really crowded which supposedly explains why we had to queue for seating. Then it's finally our turn and unbelievable things start happening. The first thing that the head waiter - or whoever that person was - rambled about my friend was that her name matched that of one of his waiters' (hahaha) , a comment that was completely out of line and that would be completely out of place in any civilized establishment. Then he asks if we want our coats hanged but instead of taking them from us he tells a waitress to show us the way to a cloakroom, so she leads us to another crowded room, something between a dance floor and a bar. Way too much mess, so in the end we decide to keep the coats with us. By that time we would be running back and forth for more than half an hour. We still don't have our table and frankly it doesn't look like anybody really cares if we do. That rude man is finally back, he gives us a table for four, we ask if there is no mistake, to which he replies, quite irritated, that since we have so much clothes on us, we might as well keep a table for four. Then he vanishes, a waitress comes to take our orders for drinks, we just go for water (I really hate excusing myself for that because only a client decides what he or she chooses to drink, but ok, my friend was driving and I was solidarizing). The waitress loses any interest, vanishes and at that point it starts feeling that this is how the rest of the night is going to be: long waiting time and mere frustration. So we decide to leave. For the courtesy I approach that arrogant man to tell him that, since we are not served, we are freeing the table, to which he replies, word by word: But you are very strange, so that's ok. There you go, an exemplary instance of how to spit into a face of a paying costumer. So, dear future visitors of Svolvær, please keep in mind that there are other spectacular restaurants in the town, including, for example, Kjøkkenet and Børsen, where we sat through full menus on some previous nights and enjoyed not only delicious food but also outstanding service. Professional restaurateurs sure know that waiting service is a major part of any restaurant experience. Judging from our incident, Paleo Arctic is simply not in that league. So in the category of failed restaurants you get 5 stars out of 5 for treating your guests like trash. For the rest you get one - but only because there is no option to...
Read moreThe fish was not clean properly , I found intestines and there is nothing worst than this .. the crab sauce was super salty but if you combine all the ingredients together was just ok .. the veggies were almost uncooked ..
The vegetarian dumplings was quite boring .. the feeling was just mushroom and nothing else .. the asparagus was not peeled .. the lentil under the dumplings was too much garlic and the mouth was smelling bad ..
The dessert supposed to be chocolate cremeux but we received something that they thought is Cremeux and nothing special the rest ..
Butter was just okay .. bread was cold ..
The chefs (blonde guy and Chinese girl ) were touching the meat then veggies and the fishes without gloves ..
The waitress ask us if we want to drink something and we said just water and she brought us water that we had to pay 89 kr around 8 euro for WATER , instead of asking us if we mean tap water or new bottle of water ..
In general the expectations were low but after the visiting came even lower .. 2 main course and one dessert + water 90 euro ..
I hope they take this review as positive to get improved from chef that have been working in some good restaurants around...
