Very poor experience. Went with coach party, so all grouped inside the gift shop. I have mobility issues, so stayed put to wait to be allowed in the bar. Those who could began browsing the gifts. We were then told that there was a strict queue around the outside of the shop, which automatically put me at the back of the queue. By the time I got into the ice bar, I was in a lot of pain caused by the lengthy queue for warm capes. The ice bar itself was a massive disappointment. Itis essentially just a warehouse with a few poorly carved statues, lit up by bright lights. We'd been told a drink was included in the ticket, but as we were visiting before midday it was just juice. There then followed another queue for drinks. I simply couldn't stand any longer in order to queue, so I didn't bother. I took a seat for a few moments to ease some of the pain, then returned to the gift shop to ask where their toilets were. I should have guessed - they weren't working! Then followed a walk up to the coach station to use their facilities. If you're thinking of visiting, I honestly wouldn't bother, especially if you have any...
Read moreVery nice bar at the port of Lofoten. It's worth stopping by once. The bar is already stylishly furnished from the outside. When you enter, you are immediately greeted by the staff. Inside there is a shop where you have to pay for the ticket for the exhibition and a drink at the ticket office. The price of 25 euros is relatively expensive, but it's worth checking out. Upon entering, one also has the opportunity to use a jacket and gloves for the exhibition hall. It's a bit more like -10 degrees in the hall, so it's advisable to dress well. The exhibition is attractively designed and there is an ice slide on the right side. The slide should be tried with caution. The bar is also well stocked, but because of the cold, you don't stay long in this place. The drinks are classic and it's nice to drink from an ice glass. Especially the Argentinian employee from the Icebar Tromsø was very warm and open to talk to us about everything. You have to see such a bar...
Read moreIf you travel to Norway's Lofoten Islands, one of your destinations has to be Magic Ice in the town of Svolvær. There's really nothing quite like it. There is an admission price of around $20 USD, which includes one alcoholic drink and you have the option of purchasing an admission package that includes additional drinks. You can stay inside as long as you like (20 degrees Fahrenheit) and they provide large parkas and gloves so you don't have to bring your own in the summertime. The drinks are served in a glass that contains an insert made of ice so it keeps it very cold. The bar is down in the Southeast corner of the town back by the channel out to the harbor so it's a little tricky to find. There are a variety of souvenirs in the shop once you come out of the bar. The staff is very friendly and gives you a history of the bar and will gladly answer any questions. Our group really enjoyed...
