Hanjip Korean BBQ — Restaurant in Bella Vista

We’re from Northern Virginia home of the largest expat population of Koreans in the US. This restaurant is outstanding. The service was exceptionally attentive, even when we asked for more side dishes, they readily brought them along and will constantly watching out for us. I saw from previous reviews that people have remarked about the low quantity of meat as heavy meat eaters. We were pleasantly surprised by the quantity of meat that was provided. The quality Of the meat left nothing to be desired. The beef was tender and delicious, and the pork was suitably fatty and pleasant to eat. No tuve una buena experiencia en este restaurante. Fui con mi esposa y lo primero que notamos fue la falta de banchan (acompañamientos coreanos). Solo los sirvieron cuando los pedí, mientras que en los restaurantes coreanos estos se ofrecen siempre de entrada, y notamos que tampoco los servían a otros clientes aunque tenían disponibles.

Mi esposa pidió jjampong, un plato de fideos que venía en combo con tangsuyuk (carne agridulce), pero solo nos trajeron los fideos. Al preguntar por la carne, nos dijeron que tardaría, pero nunca llegó, incluso después de terminar de comer. Al preguntar de nuevo, el mesero nos informó que no podrían servirla. Le mencioné que debería habernos avisado antes, ya que estuvimos esperando sin necesidad. Solicité un descuento porque el plato estaba incompleto, a lo que accedió.

Sin embargo, al revisar la cuenta, el plato estaba cobrado a $14.50 en lugar de $13.50 como indicaba el menú, con un descuento de jubilado del 25%. Cuando le comenté al mesero, corrigió el monto, pero volvió con la cuenta aplicada a $14.50 con solo un 20% de descuento. Además, no me estaban cobrando las sodas, cuando había pedido dos, a pesar de que nuestra mesa estaba en frente a la caja y tuve que indicarlo también. El cajero solo mencionaba problemas con “su sistema” sin resolver nada realmente, enfocándose en excusas.

Mis observaciones:

Un restaurante coreano debería servir banchan a todos los clientes. Si falta algún plato o ingrediente, cocina y meseros deben saberlo para informar al cliente. Si saben que un plato no saldrá, deberían comunicarlo de inmediato.

This was by FAR the best meal we had in Panama... We've been all over Panama City trying different food... they had the best quality, friendly service, and attentive staff. This place is LEGIT - very authentic. The meat quality was the best we've had in Panama. I heard they only opened a few weeks ago, but the staff were very well trained, and knew the different Korean dishes - even the less common stuff that I asked for. Too bad we'll be leaving tomorrow, but we'll DEFINITELY be back next time...
