In this cevicheria, I found the ceviche to be the worst in my opinion.
We had three food items at which one was okay, one was great and the other was almost inedible. Our appetizer, the stuffed potatoes, from the translation but felt more like it's stuffed in plantains? We got one with shrimp and we found that to be only alright. My girlfriend ordered a whole fish one with tostones and it was pretty incredible. I liked it a lot. The fish is almost like it could be a part of fish and chips and came with some seafood (calamari and octopus I think?) on top. It was probably the best dish I had there, but it's not what I ordered for myself.
I decided to order ceviche because that seems to be a specialty of the place. I ordered one for octopus and I ended up eating it with everything else on the table because it was unbearably sour. It would've been considered inedible if my girlfriend didn't share her food and/or we did not have an appetizer. I was hungry and already ordered it so I tried my best to finish it but it was not a good experience. I don't know if that's authentic but I don't remember having ceviche this sour before from my previous experiences in the States.
It's right near downtown and probably easy to get to, The staff was attentive and one was able to communicate well in English. It's a nice place to sit outside and also have good looking decor inside. Ceviche however, I probably would never order...
Read moreLa cevicheria Panama is definetly going to fullfill your hungry for Seafood. They dont have a huge menu, which is good to let them focus on their specials.
As entry we order Patacones Rellenos de pulpo (Fried plantain fill w Octopus) and fried calamary. The patacones had a kind of teriyaki sauce thats goes really well with everything. The Fried Calamari came with a homemade aioli really good and the best part is that it was not greasy.
Main dish we got a fillette fish with a white Seafood sauce that it was refreshing to a new level. The creaminess and tang of the sauce was a new level of Seafood combination.
The other maindish was one of the specialities, the Pirate tacos, you get to choose the protein and we went with shrimp. The tacos were huge! The salsas inside were blending really good and the shrimp was NOT overcook, so no chewy shrimp :).
Overall a great expirience in the heart of the...
Read moreMixed ceviche had no Corvina just octopus and shrimp and had the texture of a bicycle tire. Seemed like it was marinating for a year or more. The Corvina ceviche was just OK, nothing to remember. The Lomo Saltado was the worst I have ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot of the dish in several countries. It was more of a Chinese stir fry with sweet terrriaki sauce and no French fries. Service was painfully inattentive, waited 20 minutes for check as our waitress simply left the resturant without mentioning it. The first photo is Lomo Saltado from this resturant the second photo is what the dish...
