Madre Pizza — Restaurant in San Felipe

Phenomenal Italian restaurant in the heart of Casco Viejo. We had the ensalata caprese which was one of best I had. The ravioli de Gamberonni was spectacular. After this dish we knew we were in for a treat. We followed that with the tagliata di manzo and the pesce del giorno which was a perfect combination of surf and turf on a bed of pasta. We complemented our dinner with a margarita pizza because how can you not have pizza at an Italian restaurant. To cap it off we had the fogottino madre as our dessert. This was truly a culinary Italian masterpiece in Panama of all places. A shout out to Raul, our waiter as well. He was spot on. His recommendations were exactly what we needed. We requested Pedro after reading reviews, and we’re happy to say that he was not only delightful, but very good at his job! We ordered cocktails, wine and beer. The olives and the burrata to start, both were delicious, the olives were huge and perfectly ripe. For our mains we had the Linguine ragu della Nonna and the beef carpaccio. Unfortunately, the carpaccio had so much cheese (both shaved and grated Parmesan and Pecorino) and dollops of different sauces everywhere, that you couldn’t really taste the beef. It was extremely salty. Pedro handled it with grace. The atmosphere was amazing, we sat in a room curtained off far from the main entrance. Bathroom was spotless. All in all, we enjoyed the experience and will be going back to try the wood fired pizza and look forward to seeing...

The restaurant looks awesome but the food is very price and therefore average. We came in as a family group and we got 5 pizzas. Two pizzas, (the bottoms) were burned. The other pizzas were rather cold. One family member claimed to the waitress that her pizza was burned. We asked for taken one pizza of the bill which they refused to do. When I pay 20$ for a pizza and the total bill is over 120$, then I expect a customer friendly service. The restaurant told us that we should have claimed the fact that the pizza was burned right at the beginning. However as only half of the pizza was burned, how should we have known. This restaurant looks good but it is rather about money than the consumer. Of course we paid one of the burned pizzas and we left...
