Never again. The old Habibis was fantastic. They moved and set up here in San Francisco and left the Standards, the pride and the good food behind. But they did remember to up their prices. We spent over $100 in there , just 2 of us. At an average of $7-8 a side plate easily done. Hummus, ok - taboulie - old not fresh . Falafel see photo, dead dark and dank, heavily salted. Kibbe again, not fresh. Sambuseki - iffy at best and reheated . Warak inab or vine leaves, ugh. Look, it was a Tuesday, lunchtime, place was empty, the parking , maybe 4 cars and good luck , it's a small messy , uninviting area overgrown with weeds at the rear of the place. Watch the deep dip as you enter the side entrance to the "carpark" . The toilet...absolutely archaic and not nice and it's outside. I can't fault the waitress , she was excellent. Bubbly, on her game and beer was super cold. Gone is the excellent Mediterranean food that used to be....now it's a Mish mash of starters , and burgers, wings etc catering to foreigners ? The younger crowd ? The decor is drab and shabby by previous standards. The place is small. We won't be back and I will let our circle of friends and family know.
The photo is supposedly a falafel. It was awful , salty , burnt and dried out, a week old was it ?...
Read moreI don't know if it is the same owners or what happened to the original old habbibis bit this new habibis mk in San Francisco is crap. The parking..good luck..like 4 spots at the rear, the service...pretty good bit then again it was empty when we visited. On a Tuesday for lunch. The beer....super cold...TVs to watch sports. Ok, now the absolute disappointment. The food. Absolute crap. Gone are the middle eastern full menu..now it's a few starters, like taboulie, hummus, warak inab or vine leaves, sambusek cheese only, falafel ....but the slap was these foods were yesterday's. Not fresh, falafel and kibe over cooked , vine leaves not fresh. Seems the pride and standards of old have disappeared. Price is up there though. Roughly $7 to 8 bucks each one, no matter the choice. No combos anymore No Lamb. The decor is shabby and nothing like the old habibis . The toilet is outside and very run down.
I won't be going back ever again. Truly saddened to this happpen to a once...
No...
