Okay where do i start, i was supposed to get reservation for this place to have a fam meal with my blood, with my unc and cuz, who was supposed to be a family of 8 around there, but I had to switch it up because I couldn't do reservations at 3 months in advance, they wanted a reservation like a week before and that wasn't me I'm a person that's very serious I need to fix everything when I have a time off and focus on the projects, anyways. So I did this place as my last meal in Peru, so it's just me and my cuz, and I tell yuz! It wuz gas ! So so good, buzzing anything. The service was the best service I had in Peru, the very top service I never had better service than this anywhere, and I tried a lot of very nice places, we spend around $93 and plus a tip that was around 28 bucks, USD. Prime money ! Is there a little bit rough in the gate, because there was a bar that we wanted to drink but they told us to go to the other one that was not that busy, so we had to walk to the host and that nobody told us there was, the doorman didn't guide us that well because I don't know the sauce like maybe not worthy of being there, but whatever, and after that we got walked to the bar of Lima, and we met this guy named Telmo, funtastic gentlemen, very good bartender he knew the in and out of everything that we needed, I tell you this sir was so good that makes me feel shame that I couldn't stay there longer, the bar bites were very very good, the burger with fries comes three very good the carpaccio oh my God it was amazing, but not only that every time you drank something he always gave you samples of what he was serving mostly if it was like Peruvian drinks that he had a lot of them, Peruvian vodka Peruvian whiskey made from purple corn and he explained to you a little bit of everything they have this April aperitivo that's made from Peruvian spicy peppers that I was amazing, they basically make a Peruvian negroni, and a Peruvian aprol spritz, wow ! The apple martini was very nice as well as my cousin had Glenfiddich 12, very good potion, then my "friend" had a rose drink that was so that delicate and soft it was just very vibrant and flavors, I promise you I did want to try to taste all of the drinks they had but one we didn't have the time because they open only until 11:00 that's very sad, that bar should be open until 1:00 at least, and number two is that the Life music really ruined it for me, at least they should shut down the doors because I was looking for, a quiet peaceful conversation a nice time, it was a luxurious time to be honest perfect time to be alive, bathrooms were a little bit far I think the bar should have their own bathroom but that's not up to me, anyways Telmo was the star of the show, my dad used to come here all the time, back in the 70's and 80's I need to show him again, what it looks like, he will love it ! I cannot wait to go back I promise I will come here like more often this is my new spot, every time I come out to drink I'm coming here there's no other place to be honest, barranco can be very nice and fun, and some music places like La Noche, it's okay but loud, I'm at the time of my life in the Acer ridership in a very nice whiskey or cocktail and just let it be you know. If it could be open until like 1:00 or 12:00 Fridays or Saturdays I'd be more than happy to be here as long as my stays is in Peru , and I always stay at the Sheraton. Wonderful Wonderful place ! ...
Read moreNot really sure how to describe my lunch at Casa Tambo, but all I can say is that at 24 years old, it was hands down one of the top 3 restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. From the warm greeting to the walk to our table, and the incredible service (I think our server was either Juan or Jose), everything was spot on. Oh, and did I mention the ART GALLERY? Yes, you read that right—an ART GALLERY. It was so delightful, we didn’t even need dessert; the gallery was the perfect “icing on the cake.”
My friends and I had a 13-hour layover and could only pick one restaurant, so we knew it had to be the best in the historic center since we were staying at the Sheraton. Every single staff member at the Sheraton recommended Casa Tambo, and after a while, we figured they must’ve been helping each other out with business. But thank God we listened! Seriously, if there’s anything better than Casa Tambo, sign me up, because it’s going to be hard to beat.
We were first treated to an array of various Peruvian breads and butters, which were absolutely divine and so yummy. As for our entrees, I don’t remember every dish, but I do remember my friend having the Lomo Saltado, which was incredibly tasty. Another friend ordered a dish with fried shrimp, squid, and clams—honestly, we were convinced our waiter jumped into the water to catch those because they were THAT fresh. And then there was my plate… OMG. I had the most amazing pesto linguine, served with a potato hash and topped with perfectly fried pork, almost like chicharrón. It was divine.
I could go on and on about my experience, but I’ll stop here. And just to clarify, no, I’m not an avid reviewer. I rarely take the time to share my experiences, but this one had to be mentioned. Thank you, Casa Tambo, for such an unforgettable experience. I would literally come back to Peru...
Read moreVisited in August 2024. Perú. Lima. Strolling through the charming historic center, we were drawn to this restaurant nestled in a beautiful colonial building. Inside, the space is stunning, with grand columns and artistic touches. The restaurant boasts excellent reviews, so we couldn’t resist the opportunity to sample local cuisine.
Food: This Peruvian restaurant offered a contemporary take on traditional dishes. We opted for several appetizers and two main courses. The octopus tiradito, served with olive oil and a fresh herb sauce, was a triumph. The octopus was cooked to perfection, tender and succulent, sliced into perfectly thin pieces. The dish was expertly balanced in terms of acidity and saltiness.
Our next appetizer was scallops flambéed in a curry sauce. The presentation was dramatic, with the dish arriving on fire. The scallop itself was incredibly soft and melded seamlessly with the sauce without being overwhelmed by its intensity.
For our main courses, we enjoyed two types of rice: one with chicken and shrimp, the other with sausages. Both were excellent, with the rice being fluffy and slightly crispy, and the fillings cooked to perfection. A subtle Asian influence seemed to permeate the presentation and flavors of each dish.
We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and enjoyed every bite.
Service: The service was good, with the waiters having a basic grasp of English, making ordering easy. Everyone was friendly and attentive, and the food arrived promptly.
Conclusion: I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. Every dish we tried was delicious, and the beautiful historic setting added to the experience. If you are in the area, this restaurant is well...
