Edit: August 2023
As Iâve been a few times now and always impressed how tasty this place is Iâd like to mention a few new dishes Iâve tried that blew me away. Definitely recommend reservations these days and take note that certain items from their menu change every so often.
Arroz con Pata - 5/5 - incredible! The best Iâve tried so far in Lima. Itâs so perfectly balanced and the cilantro is not overpowering in any way. Blows the Mayta version out of the water.
Tortitas de choclo / cevichito de pota - 4/5 - Delicious pota ceviche. Fresh and light.
Langostinos al Ajillo - 5/5 - very strong flavours. Slightly spicy with intense ginger flavours. Definitely not for everybody but I loved it.
March 2023: Wow!!! Went on a Wednesday (2pm), 20min wait, definitely worth it. Small but such a beautiful space, maybe around 40 spots.
Choclito Frito - 5/5 - unbelievable, havenât tasted anything like this in Lima yet (recommended by server)
Ceviche ClĂĄsico - 4/5 - super tasty, fresh and refreshing, large chunks, makes it so much better with the tortitas de choclo. Perfectly made, still soft in the inside not overly fried.
Seco a la Norteña (1/2 portion) - 4/5 - similar to Isolina, thought the beans were better here though.
2 large Pilsens

We tried the Tortillas de Choclo, a very interesting and rich Muchame de Pato (Iâm a huge fan of tuna muchame, so I had to try the duck versionâtotally different texture, but still flavorful), and the Piqueo Cumpita, which came loaded: Tamalitos with Seco, Papa a la HuancaĂna, Crispy Pork Belly, Causita Marina, Cevichito with Choclo Fritters. It sounds like a lotâand it wasâbut trust me, itâs worth the dive.
Also ordered a Classic Ceviche made with the catch of the day, the Jalea Cumpa de Pejerrey, and of course, no Peruvian feast is complete without a solid Arroz con Pato. Everything was fresh, well-executed, and full of the flavor you expect from a proper criollo spot.
The space is small, so a reservation is highly recommendedâthis place fills up fast. Good news: they have a second location just half a block away for overflow.
Bottom line: A loud, delicious, family-style spot that delivers on flavor and vibes. Go hungry, go early, and go with people who...
Read moreCumpa is still a Hidden Gem, despite yhe latest reviews that has generated long waiting lines outside!! So making a reservation is a must. The Ceviche de pescado is one of the most flavorful and traditional I have tried in Lima. You can instantly feel The fish freshness and it is mildly hot and is paired with 3 smashed and fried corn torrejitas, which is a distinctive touch. The Causa with fried Pejerreyes and a ceviche on top is superb!! We Both were full by sharing these 2 dishes but saw on the neighboring tables a couple of amazing combinado and seco de cabrito that looked fantastic and their comments were truly great Expect a tight and crowded house every day. Worth it! And affordable @...
