This is the third time we've come to this restaurant. This is a restaurant that is nice for gathering with friends for coffee and a dessert when you happen to catch it freshly made and get a mildly happy server. The first time we came I ordered an orange juice and a bread pudding. When the bread pudding arrived it looked SO dry I didn't touch it and asked the server to take it back. They didn't charge me for it. It was Sunday evening and they had a very small amount of options. The second time we came with friends. I said I wasn't hungry and ordered only an orange juice. This time, Mother's Day breakfast we brought the kids. We realized how reluctant servers were to answer the question "How big is the serving size?" Our food came one item at a time. When the small piece of an undercooked Pastel de Alcachofas came I was so hungry that I decided to go against my better judgement and just dig in it. Bad choice. It tasted like it had been defrosted and warmed in a microwave, I asked to please exchanged it for a Pastel de Acelgas. The server hesitated to tell me something, didn't say anything and left. One of the Triples we ordered arrived, the kids were hungry and devoured it. The Pastel de Acelgas arrived and it looked worse than the other one. The bottom of it looked completely undercooked. I was hungry but decided to try only one bit and it was disgusting. It was poorly seasoned, poorly heated and watery inside. I put it aside, I didn't know what to do. The other small Triple came, it was devoured again and then the Club Sandwich arrived. My husband dug in his small and very lonely Club Sandwich (we've had it in other places and it was twice the size and came with fries) we didn't know the egg was going to be over-easy and man it was very lightly cooked. Hungry yet and disappointed, not a good feeling when you'd pay almost $9 for that sandwich and almost $20 dollars for 4 kid size drinks and 2 sandwiches a bit bigger than a PBJ Sandwich. We were going to order waffles and other things but we've realized already food quality+size wasn't going to improve, neither service but the kids were hungry so we ordered a Banana Split that was price+ size, ok. The kids were happy. We asked for the bill. We were charged for the two Pastels. We had explained to them they were bad and couldn't eat it. But they charged us for it. I haven't eaten anything on my own celebration! 🥴 My husband, a man that prefers paying quietly and never come back rather than complaining about his food, this time he was ready to fight it. He came back victoriously after talking to a manager, the annoyed server disputed it. For him food was perfect. (They don't even have good quality tomatoes for their sandwiches, they were hard to chew! We didn't mention it though.) It gets two stars from us only because of the manager...
Read moreThis place has the best "café con leche" I've ever had!!! Their empanadas were incredible too, very fresh and the pastry dough so well executed. I personally loved their alfajores, the dulce de leche was perfect.
I really enjoyed their ambiance and the area where's located it's nice too. The service I thought it was just OK.
We bought some deli meat and cheese here and it was not so good (it smelled bad when we got home). We were surprised to be honest, given how fancy everything looked.
They have soooo many options for breakfast and a very large menu. We were sitting next to the kitchen door and all the dishes coming out looked superb. It's on the pricey...
Read moreSad disappointment. I have very fond memories of San Antonio bakery. When I was a kid, my parents brought me there and everything was special and delicious. The service was unique and great. Today, my heart crushed to witness it is not anymore. Service was bad, food took forever, incomplete, we have to remind d the server constantly. The worst was see quality went down. Sandwiches such the classic "Butifarra, and pan con pollo" were below average. The coffee arrived so late and was almost cold. Part of the order didn't arrive. So sad! I can not recommend this place...
