Overrated place, mediocre food, and the worst service ever! If I could rate it 0/5 I would! Went here for some late snack. Ordered their supposedly "best seller" strawberry tea, chips, "chunky" chocolate nutella cake, and their decadent chocolate with brownies gelato. Strawberry tea: bland at best. Save your money and buy some dried fruits to make tea. Hell, you can make powdered iced tea more flavorful than what they had. Chips: thin, unseasoned, soggy, dipping it in sauce isn't even worth it. Buy yourself some Pringles. "Chunky* chocolate nutella: the cake layer wasn't even a quarter of an inch thick. The mousse layers are thicker than the actual cake. There were no chunks and it didn't even taste like Nutella. Should've just advertised it as chocolate mousse and not a chunky cake. Decadent chocolate with brownies gelato: again, there were no brownies!!! The texture was gritty from the ice crystals like what you get from refreezing frozen ice cream. Chocolate milk from the groceries are even richer than whatever they used to make their "gelato" from. If you want ice cream in Baguio, just buy from the sorbeteros in Burnham park. Service: Unattentive staff who were more busy scrolling thru their phones than actually working. Get ready to be judged by your clothes and ethnicity. If you're a foreigner then you'll have a better time with the staff. If you're Filipino, then expect to be treated like you can't afford what they sell or you're just a waste of their time to serve. They had physical menus they handed out to foreigners, while they only told us to just scan the qr code for their menu. The place advertises as a "pet friendly" place but if you have large breeds (I brought my trained and friendly dog), the staff won't go near you and would just put your order down on the far side of the table. For a place within the grounds of Baguio Country Club, you'd expect they'll treat you better. NEVER AGAIN!! Place: meh, it's chic and aesthetic but that's all they can offer. TL:DR Don't waste your time and money. It's a clout...
Read moreLocated in the basement of Kamiseta Hotel, the place has undergone a significant transformation, moving past its whimsical Vanilla Cafe days towards a sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic.
However, our recent dinner experience didn't quite match the allure of the new decor. We found that the food, while beautifully presented, carried an "Instagrammable tax," meaning the prices seemed to reflect the photogenic quality of the place than the actual taste and value of the dishes. The flavors, unfortunately, didn't justify the cost, leaving us feeling underwhelmed. Despite the disappointment, the service was a definite highlight, with the staff proving to be attentive and efficient. While our initial dining experience left something to be desired, we're open to giving Grapevine another chance, perhaps for coffee and pastries during the morning or afternoon. We're curious to see how the ambiance feels at different times of day and hope for a better impression. Still, with Baguio offering a plethora of dining choices, only time will tell if Grapevine becomes a return...
Read moreIt was the first sunny weekend we've had for nearly a month, so I thought it would be great to revisit the Vanilla Cafe at the Kamiseta Boutique Hotel.
We went on a Saturday afternoon, and luckily, were able to get a corner table at their solarium area. It was a bit warm (by Baguio standards), as the sun was out in full force, and the ceiling tapestries were not much help in filtering out the sunlight. Nonetheless, the ambiance, and the wide open windows which lets a nice breeze come in, was worth the warmth of the place.
The same cannot be said about the offerings though. The cakes were quite expensive, and didn't look appetizing, so I went for the Puff Royal Coffee flavor, and had a Cafe Mocha to go with it. My friend had a Cafe Latte.
The coffee was... ok. Nothing extraordinary. The puff pastry though was mostly whipped cream that didn't even taste like coffee. The mini cream puffs that were in it, and the puff pastry base, were ok though. Overall, it wasn't worth the P199 that I paid for it.
Come for the ambiance, but temper your expectations on their...
