For years, I’ve been caught in the eternal Cebuano debate: Who really makes the best lechon? Rico’s? Ayer’s? House of Lechon? CNT? Zubuchon? I’ve tried them all. Then came Cebu’s Best Lechon, and I thought the search was finally over — until Tatang’s Lechon Belly entered the scene and changed everything.
Funny thing is, I wouldn’t have known about it if I hadn’t watched Rico Blanco’s vlog, where he tried out the top lechons in Cebu. Curiosity led me here in 2024, thanks to my manager’s treat — and honestly, it’s the closest thing to lechon perfection I’ve ever tasted.
The skin? Crispier than a fresh bag of chicharrón. The meat? Tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced between fat and lean. The skin-to-meat ratio is spot on — no dry corners, no chewy layers. And when you dip it into their signature sauce? Absolute heaven.
The only challenge is finding the place. It’s tucked away from the highway, with Lahug Church as your nearest landmark. The spot is small, often packed, but the staff are warm and smiling — like they already know you’re about to experience something special.
Featured in Byahe ni Drew, Tatang’s doesn’t serve the traditional whole roasted pig. Instead, it’s pure lechon belly — boneless, compact, and insanely good. Pair it with puso, and you’ll understand why this has become my new #1...

The simple vibe of the decor makes you think you are not in the city. Hygienic with small fans which avoid the fly going inside and to your food. The meal is very affordable as well.
🐽 5/5 1/2 kilo Lechon - for some reason their lechon meat tasted better than the ones we had at Carcar on the next day. Not to salty, the condiments made the flavor stand-out even more. Not to mention the super crispy lechon skin!! ♥️
🐽 5/5 Pork sisig - freshly sizzled served to you. The mixture of crunch and savory is just the best plus adding a drizzle of Calamansi.. 🤤 absolute perfection.
🐽 5/5 Pusô Rice - they offer rice and pusô. We had the pusô and it surely did not disappoint eating it together with the lechon and sisig. A plus for being environment friendly 💚

Read moreTatang’s lived up to the hype! Less than a five minute walk from our hotel, we got two value plates of food. Both were rich with flavor and each included two servings of “puso”, which is Filipino hanging rice, as well as a soft drink of your choosing. They are formed in geometric shapes with some creative palm leave weaving before getting lowered into a pot for cooking. This adds a lovely bit of flavor to otherwise standard rice!
Watching the lechon get roasted and chopped up in the back of the shop added to the appeal, and each bite of meat was the perfect mix of textures (none were too fat dominant). We polished off both plates without trouble. #cleanplategang
