Tried Ramenikko Ramen House along V. Mapa Street, and while the place has a lot to offer in terms of variety, the overall experience didn’t quite hit the mark.
The Tonkotsu Ramen and Shoyu Ramen were a bit too salty and lacked the depth of flavor you'd expect from authentic Japanese ramen. It also didn’t feel like it was adjusted for the Filipino palate either — it just felt off. The Spicy Kadayawan Roll, unfortunately, was soft and sludgy, which made it less appetizing, though the spiciness offered the kick we were looking for.
Tonkotsu Ramen - P360 Shoyu Ramen - 310 Spicy Kadayawan Roll - P350 Coke - P90
The prices are on the higher side, so I was expecting more in terms of taste and quality. As for the ambiance, the place could definitely use a bit of an upgrade. It’s not functional, and it’s missing that warm, inviting, homey feel that makes you want to stay longer or come back. They could definitely remove that wall and open the whole place. Revamp the decors and table arrangement.
It’s not the worst, but it’s not something I’d rush back to either — hopefully, with a few tweaks, it can live up to its potential. Maybe a bit of sameness in lay-out to Ramenikko North in Azuela Cove, more open,...
Read moreJapanese cravings since last week so I went to Ramenikko for late lunch today.
I ordered the butao ramen, ebi tempura but the maguro sashimi is not available.
Really sleepy after my full meal, didn't even got to finish my ramen.
On the specifics for the food, the tempura and ots sauce for me is great. The ramen is good. The broth base of the butao is rich and creamy. I was expecting a loaded bowl but there are only leeks, nori, kelp and egg in the ramen apart from from the meat and noodles. The noodle is acceptable but I like the firm noodles than what they are currently using although the thinness of the noodle is good. The pork chashu is somewhat grilled and i can taste the saltiness not the typical sweet umami type of chashu, but all in all the meat and fat ratio of the meat is good.
The place is a bit warm maybe they adjusted the AC, and the staff is nice. Need to explore other dish in this japanese restaurant soon since its been years since I was here so I technically forgot those I have tasted before pre-pandemic times.
Oh and I forgot to mention the naruto thingy in the ramen heheh (though no sprouts and cabbage in the mix, maybe its really their recipe as I was used to other...
Read moreIt has been a while since I had my last ramen. Today I was really craving for some noodle action so I searched online and found this ramenya. The atmosphere is really japanese but I did not come for aesthetics. The menu was promising and since it’s my first time here I thought of ordering a very common flavor in every ramen house — miso ramen. Upon serving I took a taste of the broth and damn it was TAB-ANG! I was literally thinking of leaving the place that instant. It was soooo bland I thought it was just hot water with garnish. I know people might have complained about how salty ramen is and how it may affect your health. But say that excuse to a japanese person or anyone who have enjoyed ramen in Japan. It was a terrible ramen experience. It’s disrespectful to be named as “miso ramen”. It should be called “miso based batchoy with...
