At Tsuru, a Japanese restaurant known for its sushi and sashimi offerings, the experience fell short of expectations due to several disappointing factors. Despite the premium price tag of 600++ for a sashimi platter, patrons were dismayed to find that the selection served was not fresh but rather appeared to be frozen. This lack of freshness detracted significantly from the dining experience, leaving diners feeling unsatisfied and questioning the value of their investment.
Moreover, the portion sizes were noted to be small, further exacerbating the feeling of overpricing. Considering the high cost and reputation of the establishment, customers expected generous portions and top-quality ingredients, making the underwhelming serving sizes even more disappointing.
In addition to the freshness issue, the overall quality of the food failed to impress. Diners found the dishes to be unappetizing, lacking in flavor and presentation. This lack of appeal further contributed to the sense of disappointment and left patrons feeling that the restaurant was overrated.
Ultimately, the combination of frozen rather than fresh sashimi, small portion sizes, and unappetizing food led to a thoroughly disappointing dining experience at Tsuru. Despite its reputation as a Japanese restaurant, the reality did not meet the expectations set by its pricing and reputation, leaving diners feeling let down and...
Read moreThis is my family's favorite Japanese restaurant in the city. The best time to go here is during Sundays where they usually have a buffet for lunch and dinner. The buffet spread is a lot and varied and also has Vietnamese food since Hanoi - the adjacent restaurant is also owned by them. I love that their chefs are on hand doing the cooking right there in the dining venue - ebi tempura, beef and chicken teppanyaki which are so good. Even their sushis and sashimis are really tasty and flavorful. When you dine here, be ready with your appetite - maybe take a a very, very light breakfast if you're having lunch here. You will be full after some time so better to try a small amount of each of the food in the spread. It is worth it. Love their desserts, too. The native biko plus of course, their homemade green matcha ice cream. So good, too! The best to down all those food you've eaten. The waitstaff are friendly and accommodating. The last time we were here - it was my Mom-in-law's birthday and she was given a small cake and the waitstaff sang her a "Happy Birthday." When in Davao, be sure to drop by here if you're craving for Japanese cuisine. Highly recommended - but of course, being a buffet - it's a little bit pricey but definitely...
Read moreHad a table booked at 12:30 lunch.
We arrived around 12:20 noon and there was no one to receive us as we entered the door. Asked the waiter about our reservation he said "Kadali lang sir". He never came back. Went around and asked the girl at the register about our reservation she said to wait. We waited again and asked another staff member about our table. There were no tables available. We booked a reservation 3 or 4 days before. The staff asked if its ok if we join another table. We declined,it is just unacceptable.
A few minutes later a table was available for us but it was dirty so the lady asked us to wait near the door while they were cleaning it. She never came back. Asked the girl at the register again if the table was ready. She did not know how to answer us and looked for another staff to answer.
Finally we had a table. Then we went around to look at the food. Unfortunately most of the food were empty and were never refilled.
For Php 1100.00 per head for a buffet i was expecting...
