•Good taste. •There is a service charge fee automatically added to your total around 6% or something. •You can just blame the building design but there's not even a sink inside, with the only comfort room being the shared ones outside. •The staff try to do their job well but there are some lapses like being very inattentive to customers especially when it's a place that charges a mandatory service fee. •The new ordering software is easy to use, just a bit laggy. They at least provide their own devices, but the staff do not bother to verify the order anymore since that's probably how their new system works but it's a bit incovenient. •If you have special needs obviously tell them beforehand or something. They're not the most enthusiastic bunch but polite and helpful enough. Won't be the best place if you have a quick temper. •Food was fairly quick for a somewhat packed night •Place is tight and the chairs are arranged in a way that make it inconvenient to move around. • If you want a better experience you can check out the Same brand's store across the Festive Walk Mall. Should pop up with a quick search. Has slower service on packed nights but larger area and they provide you with waiting chairs and are more responsive to additional requests but it could just be their new system that's to blame. • it's a small spot that looks to be more targeted towards the people working in the building so don't come in with the expections of receiving the same quality as a larger branch • Above is as positive as I can write this while still feeling sad over having spent the evening expecting to solve a craving I was really looking forward to, only to spend a meal feeling like I was eating a bowl of salt (delicious food really, if a bit on the heavier taste because of what I ordered but you know the feeling of disappointment) and trying to keep myself from making an ugly face and ruining a good meal. •Had more or less a positive experience in other branches so it was just a bit of a shock, but the food was good and my companions...
Read moreDisappointing? Or maybe I expected highly from them. I'm willing to go back again and try their other ramen and dishes. I've heard some negative experiences from acquaintances who had other dishes in the menu but the ramen remains Excellent so far.
Service - attentive staff but they sounded always in a hurry. Thanks to one of the female staffs for being accommodating tho, esp when we asked for ice cubes. They didn't have any drinks available when we dined in.
Covid protocol - sign the book, get your temperature checked and disinfect with the alcohol provided outside the store.
Interior - never been to Japan but interiors felt almost, quiet close to Japanese ramen shops esp with the counter near the kitchen. And the calligraphy gives the atmosphere a Japanese touch. There's a mural of a geisha too.
Food - I'd say ramen is their bestseller. It's what they're good for sure. We had the tatamen? It has a nice kick of spice and tasted so good. The noodles are chewy and bouncy. Yes, huge difference from the texture of noodles we use for our batchoy.
One thing i was excited about was the pork cutlet curry. Unfortunately, pork was unavailable that day. So we had chicken curry. We also ordered gyoza.
Curry sauce good but got fed up when i was almost done with my rice. If there was a hot sauce on the table, i could've added some to it and finished everything. Chicken katsu was good. The gyoza...meh. sorry to say but it didn't taste like gyoza. I don't know how to describe it but it lacks some umami taste. We also had karaage and it was fried well.
The table has partitions for safety protocol. The menus are laid out on the table. There's a tissue holder too. And also each table has this thermos/pitcher with cold water. I thought it was hot tea like in some Japanese restaurants I watched on YouTube lol
Overall, i enjoyed my dining experience at Akamon regardless of the disappointments, minimal. Will come back and order the rest of the ramen noodles they have...
Read moreOk, my 1st time visit in Philippines and this is the resto that I got to visit 'cause of recommendations from fellow Filipino that lived in same place
Before I get inside as usual they do the C-19 protocol ( test temperatur etc.)
Get into the table served with big long menu (it's kinda nice to have a big menu as big as the table but it is also displayed outside near the door)
Price is affordable, when I ordered tonkatsu I though the size would be small but they offered 2 kind of size and it change my mind with many doubt. But! When I ordered half size tonkatsu it wasn't as small as I think it is (or maybe it's the perfect portion for me) the food doesn't make feel satiated
Also I ordered...... I forgot the name of the sushi and I ask them for more wasabi (idk if its free or they put extra charge)
They also prepared a glass that can be filled with cold water ( in my country every kind of drink is counted as a purchase of goods) but this one is free kinda amaze with Philippines 👌
Overall worth it to try and I'll come again if I...
