Pricey! But worth it.
Dined with friends last year, for a year-end meetup and catch-up. Thought of resto where we can splurge a bit. We wanted to try something new and Jardin definitely made it a memorable and challenging one for us.
Food - wide variety of Mediterranean dishes. We had Moussaka, Paella with rabbit, house salad, a bottle of wine, and we all shared the creme brulee. It was our first time having rabbit meat and only when it arrived at our table did it come to our minds that it was a rabbit. (It was a bit tough) but the paella was good. Tomatoey. We loved the moussaka, too. We weren't able to finish it. One order of moussaka can be shared by 6 people if you're ordering other dishes. House salad was also good. When we had enough of the rabbit meat and moussaka, we ordered the salad. Right amount of dressing. And the dessert was silky smooth. It was recommended by a friend. His words 'it's to die for'. The bottle of wine helped us, somehow, to finish the food we ordered. We took the bottle home cos we weren't able to finish it either. As I've said, a challenging and memorable dining experience at Jardin.
Service - I'm not sure if there is an assigned waiter for each table. But we were served by the same guy throughout our stay. And he was attentive and patient, too. We declined his offer at first to have wine but later on, he patiently shared each bottle of wine they had which works well with our dishes. Also, we chose to dine in the glass-walled dining area. It has 2 centralized ac. They turned off one of them when we mentioned we couldn't handle the cold.
Atmosphere - lovely place. Places like Jardin can make me feel intimidated but at the same time, the welcoming staff from the entrance makes it easy to adjust. They have these colored hanging lights. It makes the place whimsical. Lots of potted plants surround the area, too. We dined at half past 6 in the evening and we heard snapping sounds now and then. They have mosquito repellants placed outside, especially near the tables. It's one good thing they considered.
Location - one of the restaurants stretching the riverside boardwalk. can be accessed from the esplanade. Or when you're traveling/driving from smallville, just drive going to medicus road (but this is before medicus)
Will come back to try other dishes.
Edit: i want to add that while waiting for the dishes we ordered, they gave us slices of bread. And they're the best I've had. In teams of complimentary bread of course. They were soft, warm, and we could tell it was freshly baked. It was also served with garlic mayo spread. And we devoured the bread. Twice. Yes, they served us complimentary...
Read moreJardin Mediterranean in Iloilo is truly a gem of European cuisine and pastry. Having enjoyed their Boracay location, we decided to explore this culinary haven in Iloilo. The atmosphere is discreet and elegant, creating a romantic and intimate environment, perfect for a delightful dinner or a date night.
After just one dining experience, we became regulars, making it our go-to place for everyday suppers. While the menu differs slightly from the Boracay location, the portions are notably larger, perhaps a bit too generous for my taste, but the exceptional taste and food quality surpass any other European dining experience in Western Visayas.
The security guard and staff were remarkably accommodating and flexible, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The serene garden atmosphere at night is well-maintained, offering a quiet escape, with the establishment taking diligent care of any nuisances like mosquitoes.
An exciting discovery is their offer of fine dining cooking classes, and I'm eagerly anticipating learning from their skilled chef. Jardin Mediterranean in Iloilo is truly a dream come true for European foreigners seeking an authentic and exceptional dining experience. Thank you for consistently...

Sadly a year later I have to revise my review. Service has gotten very poor. I took my family there for Christmas Dinner and ordered, inter alia Risotto with foie gras. We also ordered paella, and, knowing rice dishes take a little longer a lot of starters. We also ordered fish but were to,d it was off that day so replaced it with lobster and linguine. The food and drink started arriving but the lobster was so late that the person that ordered it had eaten the fill so had it packed to take away. We asked about the risotto and was told the chef was not happy with it and was redoing it, after two more enquiries and two hours we told them to forget it and just bring the bill.
I had put it out of my mind until my wife got into a conversation on line with the restaurant, during which we were basically accused of making it up and ordering the food late.
Neither me, my family or friends will be going...
