This is my go-to Bo’s Coffee Shop, both in person and for delivery orders. I’ve always had mid experience, no complaints, except when it got flooded due to some piping issues (eww) and more recently, my husband and I got treated differently because we were wearing house clothes.
We literally rolled out of bed and wanted to get some of the seasonal Davao Tableya Iced Mocha so we went to Bo’s. For the first time in the multiple times that I’ve been here, we weren’t greeted immediately when we walked in and even when I already approached the register. One of the three staff present was preparing the pastries to put in the fridge so I get it. The other two were chatting near where you pick up your order. They all turned to look at us and proceed with what they were doing. Waited for like 3-5 minutes (by the register) to get acknowledged, by the person who was preparing the pastries, for our orders to be taken.
The drink was great, as expected.
The unusual cold treatment, which probably happened bec we were in house clothes, was just weird. Maybe they’re having a...
Read moreEntering into this café was sort of surreal experience, like being transported into a misplaced dimension , being next to chaotic Shopping Mall, next to an overcrowded intersection with tricycles, cars, exhaust fumes, and at the noisiest intersection in the area. The ambience is quite impressive. Calm and subtle. Not Philippino at all. Judging by the art hanging from walls, it looked to me this was sort of outlook for Westerners who long for jazz while enjoying a drink --yes, some cocktails are also available, but did not hear any jazz being played. Yes, this time we had live music. Mostly easy-listening ballads. Since I reckon this kind of places is not popular in that area of Mactan yet, Bo's Coffee is as rare as you can imagine. I saw many foreigners --probably patrons-- who gathered there in different groups. And, no, this place is not like...
Read moreIt is a great idea to support local coffee farmers and their produce (for that the 2 stars) unfortunately the execution is poor. Starting form the old pastries and storage room ambiente to the dead rodents in the corners (yes a dead mouse the most depressing thing you can imagine in a coffee shop) or the fact that there are items on the menu that the stuff knows not how to make nor charge for or half of it is out of stock at any given day. The only good thing in that place is the cheesecake and that one is seriously overpriced. The coffee itself, and I mean the beans is overpriced as well but if this is fair trade I will accept it although I doubt this too. Anyhow the beans are not roasted as they should and the beautiful aroma is being strangled in its infancy by the acidic stench of an under-roasted bean simply turning bad....
