Beware of the honeypot. It is not an ordinary girly bar but does harbour a darker side. Hustling here is expected as it is a business to make money, but these hustles go beyond. If you play pool there are better pool tables elsewhere.

Firstly ‘promiscuous engagement’ is not available from the girls - so don’t try. They smile, and will always give any customer their personal number which will lead nowhere lol. Every girl has a child at home and they are all dead broke.

If you buy a working girl a drink, her drink will be in a glass (never a bottled drink opened in front of you), and her drink will contain ZERO ALCOHOL. They increase the cost of these fake drinks to 250-300 pesos, of which the girls get 70 pesos per ‘LD’ (Ladies drink).

I met and saw the Honeypot owners. All old sullen men, resolutely depressed. They send many messages to the girls on coaching them on what to do with the customers (a girl showed me the messages), directing them how to milk the customers and ensure they only drink with customers in THEIR bar.

I saw first-hand about four customers leaving shocked at inflated bills they were presented with at the end. Sometimes complaining too high a cost for only two beers!

Having got to know some of the girls, one in particular who I felt sorry for I invited her to come for the day to my resort so she could have a nice day during her day off work (I had secretly given good tips to her as she seemed somewhat sincere). Naively I didn’t realise that the girls play serious hustle constantly outside of the bar too. I tried to do something friendly for one, and instead it turned into a rapid series of hustles of exploiting me with as many tricks as can be managed within a day. Endless sob stories, with victim playing and innuendo to hand over money to her or buy her stuff, showing me her empty purse.

The day progressed and she explained she wanted me to take her to the honeypot, this time as her as a customer (or so I thought). By then I am so tired, but happy to go with it as she explained she wanted to see her friends. We get there and she took my phone to take some pictures with her friends (it has a good camera) and I went along with it. Since we were back at the honeypot I asked her again about some of the stories she told me about the customers and owners, then strangely the stories changed and contradicted what she said earlier. I am pretty sure now that nothing she said was true. But who cares.

After a while (in the bar still) I watch her swivel on her chair to face towards me, so I could not see my phone screen. I see her go through my phone with intense look on her face. Seemed odd, so I slightly positioned myself to see what she was doing, she was going through my messages (lips moving as she is reading), and the apps I have used and she closes them one by one, she then walks around the bar with my phone, with me keeping an eye on my phone in her hand. She speaks with a group of girls then came back and offered to charge my phone in their back room which I declined, fearing it would be the last time I saw my expensive iPhone. I then took my phone back, and this time I had to enter the passcode as face recognition was disabled, possibly as she tried to access some secure function on the phone.

After me buying drinks for her and her friends, I tried to end the night and off-load her by saying she should go clubbing with her friends at the bar who were drinking with us. This didn’t work. Instead she called a taxi and invited herself back to my resort; apparently she preferred to come back with me. I felt a bit embarrassed by this, as she led me out of the bar, but I didn’t know what to do as I didn’t want to reject her in front of her work friends, and couldn’t talk to her in private at that point.

By 12:30 we got back. I managed to kick her out at 2am. Only a small amount of my money and other stuff was stolen by her (I hid my walllet!). She turned quite hostile. So don’t even try being nice to the girls!

After waiting for 10-15 minutes to be seated, it took around 10-15 minutes to be able to order a beer and some food. Once the order was placed, the "waitress" (con artist trying to take my money by asking for drinks) sat down next to me and started playing on her phone. I tried to engage her in conversation only to have her tell me that she was planning to quit and move overseas. She pretty much ignored me after that. I told her she didn't need to sit with me (my nicest way possible of asking her to go away), but she just said it was fine and continued to sit next to me at my table, play on her phone and pretty much ignore me. I didn't care that she ignored me -- I just wanted her to go away. Food wasn't good, food and drinks were overpriced, service was terrible. Won't ever go back. Do not...

I recently visited Honeypot Bar and had an exceptional experience that I just had to share. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that sets it apart from other places for a relaxing night out or a fun gathering with friends.

As for the food, the small plates we ordered were delicious and complemented our drinks perfectly.

Additionally, the live music added a pleasant touch to the evening without being overpowering. It’s clear that Honeypot Bar puts thought into every detail to create a memorable guest experience.
