Fresh Seafood Delights at Manna Sutukil seafood restaurant.
Located at the historic Mactan Shrine, Sutukil Seafood Restaurant is a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts.
The restaurant offers an impressive array of fresh seafood displayed on trays of ice, allowing customers to choose their preferred catch. From squids and flower crabs to scallops, prawns, and various types of fish, including the prized Lapu-Lapu, the selection is vast.
We ordered a variety of dishes, including grilled Lapu-Lapu fish, baked scallops, garlic butter prawns, chopsuey, garlic rice, and a bottle of San Miguel. The price of around 2000 pesos was reasonable, considering the freshness. However, some dishes had room for improvement – the grilled fish was slightly over-charred, and the cheese baked scallops were a tad too sweet (but that’s just my taste bud; maybe it’s a local’s favourite).
The garlic butter prawns were flavorful, but we noticed that most of the prawn shells were stuck to the flesh, which was a bit disappointing unless you dont mind eating the shells of the prawns. Their garlic rice is our favourite - just enough oil and fragrance ❣️
Despite these minor issues, the staff was attentive and helpful, making our dining experience enjoyable sitting in a bamboo shed setup overlooking the swamp (we think, as it was too dark at night to make out) and right next to the brightly lit Mactan Shrine.
Overall, Sutukil is a great spot to try local seafood, and we appreciated the driver's recommendation. With a bit of fine-tuning in their cooking, this restaurant could become a standout in Cebu's...
Read moreWe were here just a week ago. The place was recommended to us by the taxi driver who brought us to our hotel. When we arrived at the place to have dinner, we noticed that the area is kind of remote and hidden. We were immediately approached by several people asking us to eat at their place. It was night and kind of dark, but I only saw 2 restaurants in the area, we chose the first one to eat at. I did not get the name of the restaurant, but their price is ridiculously high. We wouldn't have mind the price if the food was great but it was not to our disappointment. We ordered a Sinigang na Lapu-lapu which turns out to be not sour at all. Their sweet and sour was not sweet nor sour but salty and their Baked Tahong turned out to be inedible. It is not baked at all but more like Adobo and ridiculously salty to eat. And to top all that, when we asked for our bill, they screw up a simple addition and they overcharged us for almost P500.
Our overall experience is bad, never gone to a place as bad as this. I do not know about the other restaurant beside this one but I don't think I would recommend this place to my friends or anyone else. Just a waste of...
Read moreFood is fresh enough, but I cannot really say too many good things about the ambiance.
The moment you arrive, you are swarmed by men shouting, pointing and trying to get you to park. Each one of them stessfully jockeying for your patronage in their stall.
Inside it is too dark, dusty and not the cleanest. Overall it doesn't feel too safe either because you have beggars hanging off the side of the "kubo" (cottage) asking for money/food.
I suppose it can be considered a cultural experience, but really not one I would readily recommend to someone traveling without Filipino hosts.
And last but not least, it is...
